I like the general look of the room, but the random solid blocks inside the blackness looks odd.  Perhaps you could consider another filler tile for a better blend, even if you just duplicate the same tile, and darken it.

Benki for me, despite the flaw I mentioned. :^_^:

Cloud20

Passarbye for me. Loving the dark cavern use and sort of blue crystals tiles at background :)

I voted for MetroidMst.
It has a quaint feel and reminds me of lego.
I like lego.

LEGO is the best toy ever.
I would agree.

Since this is about the Metroid rooms however, I guess I will throw my thoughts out there.

 • Benki: I love the grey palettes. Both the metal blocks and the rocks have an excellent color to them. A complaint of mine would be that you seem to have left the CRE palette alone... That irks me. If you change the tileset palette around, change the CRE too. Match/contrast or whatever, but not the same old palette. You've done most of the work, finish it!
 • passarbye: My initial reaction was "what am I looking at?" A bit more contrast on the back layer would be nice. That being said, I see circular things in the rocks that could be construed as bubbles, and alien egg-sacs are always interesting objects to see.
 • Shadow96: It is... Interesting. There are stuff that would fit glows well, a Morph thingy hanging out and being held by the supports is pretty rad. I think the tileset would be better if the transition between mechanical/floral happened in a room transition rather than within a room. It works, but you seem to do better when focusing on just one section.
 • MetroidMst: LOL NOOB

I'm voting this in for RotY.

I have to say though that I don't agree with MetroidMst's CRE palette.  Samus needs her heat protection suit to traverse the absurdly heated pipes. :eyeroll:

i had that same initial reaction, but in-game everything is a bit different.
that's the only thing i don't like about this contest, people look at rooms and don't get the full experience because there's really no background to where you're at, what powerups you have/are looking for and what you feel you should be seeing next in the game.
i'm only gonna use that tileset in smaller areas in the future because it seems to create some weird effect when the whole room is just that tileset.

Here is my reviews for this week, short and to the point.
Looks okay but it looks really bland and the use of those corner tiles is a little too repetitive. 3/5

This is an awesome room and should be the ROTW, also really nice details and atmosphere. Keep up the good work. 4/5

I really think this tileset is getting kinda old. No offence or anything, just want something new from you that's all. The room is really kinda bland too. 3/5
I would really like this room if there were more background tiles and filler tiles. It would also be good if you used slopes in that pit so it doesn't look so flat. 3/5
I enjoyed this week and hope to see more good rooms the next week.

Benki's room is interesting, but in the background, those blue things look like they are just hanging in midair, which looks a little odd. I really like Passarbye's room, makes me want to play it. Shadow's room looks small and bland, however, I am not tired of this palette - I really like it and cannot wait to play his full hack when it's done. I like the palette in MetroidMst's room, it's quirky and immediately grabbed my attention.

Going with Passarbye this week - it's pretty cool, but also I think a lot more could be done with it too. All the 'holey gap' parts would make me wonder if there's an intricate maze running around outside the initial path, and that could be put to good use.
