My planet

[Nu Zalem]

I realize not everyone here visits IRC so many of you have yet to see this. After roughly a month of work, restarting this thing about three times, constant critiquing from others, frustration, and learning in Photoshop, I present to you all this planet:

Below you can download the .psd file if you like. Anyone can use this planet as long as I, Nu Zalem, gets the credit (I'm a fan of open source material *thumbs up*).

Some tidbits about the planet:
- The resolution is at 4096x4096
- I tried to make the darker side of the planet as dark as I could, but I couldn't completely make it black. If anyone has any tips or such then please drop me a line or something.
- The texture for the planet was originally made at 8192x8192 resolution, but I shrank it to 4096x4096
-29 layers in all
- The thing is massive :)

I hope you all put it to use somehow and enjoy it. It was certainly a learning experience for me and has given me confidence to try out new things. In the future, I'll give it some index coloring Red-M0nk3y style so you all can use it in Super Metroid if you'd like (unless someone else wants to take the reigns).

Yes it does look quite real. If and when I decide to make another planet I'll try to outdo it. I like to aim as close to perfection as close as I can manage.

you HAVE to name it. Leaving it untitled as "Dat Planet" is unacceptable. Its too beautiful for that disregard Lol.

It's named "Fendaz Eta" as of this point forward. It'll be used for something nifty. Also thanks for the praise, I can only hope to improve. Just so you know, I am making another planet, this one being a gas giant. You'll see it whenever I complete it...I want it to look better than this baby. Also Konvicted, you should probably take a look at the .psd if you haven't already and then you can really see the process I went through. It was tough but I made it happen.

Sexy name, and yes I'll definitely check out the .psd for it, it's only tough the first time. Second time you already have a good base, just gotta figure out what you haven't tried and apply it. We should definitely share artwork sometime though.
