Well I will let this article speak for it's self. I think it's time to show them WE mean Business.

Hello, I'm not an American, and I signed this.

They're so funny.  Games are just the latest thing to be blamed.  When they ban games, and the violence still continues, perhaps then they'll realise that society is just broken, and work on fixing that instead.

I think it's a shame that this is being made out to be a video gaming issue. The impact could potentially be far-reaching. That kind of censorship would be profoundly unsettling and certainly unconstitutional. If the courts decide otherwise though, censorship can slowly spread like a disease. If video games aren't protected free speech, what else might be regulated in the same vein? Anything that is considered entertainment?

You can improve society. You can never 'fix' it. People are people and will always continue to be people, and will always be subject to human nature, which isn't always constructive. It's easy to decide that society is broken, but we take a lot for granted. Besides that, some problems are an inherent characteristic of a "free society" that will never go away.

This is very true, but firstly 'improve', 'fix', 'sort out', 'repair', it's all the same to me, just wordage.  Secondly, we're talking about the 'games make criminals' thing here, so a general societal failing discussion is a little far out at the moment.  I'm simply stating that the idea of blaming games (the longest in probably a long line of things) for the problems in our society is ridiculous, and the problems within society stratech much further than any one subject.  Thus, I said 'society is broken'.  It's breakdown is not restricted to any one thing.

This is just stupid.  Why should certain video games be banned?  So if this stupid case passes I guess that means that I could try to get rap(the stupid, annoying, gang kind) banned too?  Or maybe they'll ban R-rated movies?  Or censor the Internet?  Media is free speech, and should not be infringed upon.  And the old "video games are interactive, they turn people into killers trololol" argument is stupid when you look at everything else in society.

Also, Arnold Schwarzenegger ftw.

He tells the fuckers that wanna ban this shit to GET TO DA CHOPPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

To be honest, I'd love to see that sorta rap vanish. I mean, is there any reason to really keep it around?

I know you were being sarcastic, but just saying.

To be honest, we should all just vanish and leave the Earth a better place for the animals that don't spend all of their time sitting around arguing about what's good, what's bad, and what should be banished. I mean, is there any reason for us to be around?

I know you were being somewhat opinionated, but just saying.

By all means, chuck the Humans off the world or just nix 'em altogether. They're just wasting the resources, polluting the air, and generally being dick all with the freedom they keep killing each other for.

Wouldn't really bother me, none.

Oh, sorry, were you intending to insult me or something? o_O

Lunaria

wow, for once zeke stays true to his sub title! D:

In other news, can we get the fuck back on topic or let it die?

It's a bit lulz-worthy what with Bobby Kotick being involved as well (I'm honestly not too surprised to see him though), but this is definitely thread-related.

I get little newsletters from the Video Game Voter's Network or whatever it's called, and had gotten info about Stan Lee giving a speech about the subject. I guess that was related to this new case.

If this law gets passed, I will make it my mission to make every game I work on to be extremely violent and bloody. No longer in Super Metroid will enemies flash when you shoot them, I will make blood sprites and make sure they go out with a bang aswell. I will make every block in the game a powerbomb block so every environment  is destructible. I will hack the Barbie games aswell and turn her into the Terminator.

Hiroshi Mishima

...do you NEED an excuse to term Barbie into the Terminator? That might be an interesting hack. :p
