It is comments like this in response to perfectly valid feedback that make people reluctant to take you seriously.  There are so many here trying to help you and you're having none of it.  I have no intention of playing this based on what I know so far.  Could that change?  Sure, but color me skeptical.

I'm not sure where you're getting your 4 hours being the challenge goal, but I beat it by an hour. I don't know if you meant having to spend an extra hour taking phantoon down calculated into your goal or not. But if it's under 4 hours to collect 100%, um, yeah I'm not doing that, even though I think it could be done.

And there's a pretty nasty softlock down in the room pre Draygon. It's hard to believe this went unnoticed, since getting to Draygon without gravity would otherwise be impossible.

I am not responsible for player that abuse or use the glitch in permanent. You talk if that was my fault if people use glitch. if you talk about the glitch people use that just make Samus pass over every block without use the morph. its that you use I am not responsible for that. Come on don't come here and blame me for a stupid glitch you use or people use. Don't put the fault on my hack for this. Every hack people will do the same. In 2023 apparently people cannot play without abuse of glitch. I am not sure but there is no way we can stop this. So whatever the design people will use the glitch and pass throw it. I'm just saying that jumping over every single individual block is tedious and my OCD hates it. What glitch are you even referring to?

Additionally, I know exactly what Twitch and Randomizers are. In fact, I play randomizers quite a bit.

If you want to complain about me having 'skill issues', I do RBO runs for fun, for fuck's sake (this is sort of bragging, but I sort of need a backing to my statements). Assuming that disliking an unfun gimmick is 'skill issues' is a huge mistake.
I LOVE a good challenge/puzzle hack, but this is just... not good. It's not even difficult, just slow and with terrible gimmicks that do a pathetic job of imitating fair, fun mechanics.

Even if the hack was a sort of 'kaizo' hack, I'd like it. This isn't a kaizo hack- This is just intended to be annoying, and I've just given up being polite entirely at this point.

Also, saying that criticism has to be 'polite' for you to actually listen to it is the worst mindset I've ever heard. I tried my best to be polite in my previous post, and just like EVERY single other post in this thread, polite or not, you ignored it. I think your definition of 'polite' is praising/loving your hack, not giving actual input and criticism.

If you're going to ignore this too, I'm not surprised. After all, criticism is never polite, and you only listen to 'polite' posts.



Edit: I just actually decided to focus on your post about me living in 2000. Saying that romhacks with non-vanilla items are 'inferior' to vanilla+ hacks may be your opinion, but you're throwing your opinions around like we're supposed to take them as holy scripture or something. I (kind of) agree with that statement, but getting a nice immersion into a new world is also wonderful and is what makes me love hacks like Ascent, Vitality, and Subversion.

Exactly, everyone else and I have all said in our own respective ways the same thing basically, maybe each focusing on different aspects but overall, we're trying our best to politely sidestep the truth. But you resond to us with this asshole arrogant attitude, and to some of the most skilled, and longest active users on this forum. I've been on MetConst on and off since 2012, and this wouldn't have gone down any better then than it does now. FelixWright gave you a really great example of some of the best hacks, with screenshots and everything! But no, you basically ask for our feedback but then act like you're too good for us, and how dare we critique your precious work. Just like I'd tell someone on my job sites in real life; your work looks like trash, and if that's the best you could do in 10 years, maybe you should consider a new profession. I tried being polite, firm yet polite, now we're on strike 3, which is where I get really blunt and start calling shit how it is, because I find this kind of ridiculous, it's like so ridiculous it seems like it should be a stupid joke. You act insulted, but really I think you insulted us more than anything, we tried to help, but if you don't want help, nobody can help you. And frankly, NOBODY WANTS TO PLAY HALF ASSED HACKS.

So which is it? You know all the glitches and techniques speedrunners use but your first response when people find glitches and techniques is to get angry and complain that people can't play without glitches? You made an implicit challenge for people by announcing that glitches won't work. You should have seen this coming - it's basic psychology.

I'm gonna be honest - I've taken an earnest look at your hack and while I applaud the restraint in not putting spikes everywhere like most challenge hacks do, there's just not much here to make it stand out at all. Changing item layouts slightly and making things more tedious than challenging to attempt doesn't really make it stand out at all. There are harder, more rewarding challenge hacks out there - you need to ask yourself what you can do to make yours worth playing over others.

Even disregarding all that, what you have changed has clear room for improvement. In the second room of the game, there's a softlock if you spin jump into the crevice above the added door before obtaining the Morph Ball. It's clear that much more polish is needed for this hack to reach its full potential, however low that potential is - it didn't aim all that high. I'd recommend paying attention to how Super Metroid designs its rooms before announcing that your hack is somehow superior to it, at the very least. New tiles are placed seemingly at random without thought to how cohesive they are together. You place grass tiles without the foliage to accompany it, so you just have bare strips of grass that look weird. Natural spaces look decidedly unnatural, and artificial spaces lack a sense of intent.

You mentioned earlier that you worked for weeks on this hack, as if that amount of time is admirable in some way. For perspective, consider that hacks that feature minimal changes to aesthetic like Reimagined took years for the people here to develop. Any full-size hack worth its salt took more than a few weeks to develop. Keep an open mind to suggestions, however harsh they might seem, because as it stands your only response to any constructive criticism is to deflect and blame everyone else, and then you play the victim card when people call you out on it. And then you have the gall to say that hacks like Subversion have no design sense? That's not the spirit of a successful hacker. Going forward, I recommend you take the criticisms others have given you to heart as you approach your next project.

All that being said, the irony here is that you accuse us of living in the year 2000... for having expectations that your hacks not be 2006-era halfhacks that are glitchy, softlock-ridden messes. If you really want to prove us wrong, do better. I dare you.
