As I would love to play AM2R on the perfect handheld - the Gameboy Advanced! - I started a little homebrew port of the game.
A demo rom can be downloaded from the following link:

Tell me what you think! :)

[EDIT:]

Here are some images:

For now I was focusing on room layout (and layering different backgrounds), mapping and transitions. And I spend a good amount of time on player collision with room borders allowing Samus to run up / down slopes. The first Metroid was already included with some random movement, but I removed it from the demo rom due to causing some random crashes.

This is a great start. Keep up the good work.

Hello there, @grandmasterbi

Oh wow! I'm surprised that you are going through the effort of building this from scratch, rather than using zero mission or fusion as a base. This is an impressive start for homebrew! However if you would prefer to have all the bare essentials already taken care of and just get cracking on custom enemies, music, interface etc, Zero Mission's probably a better off place to start. One of our community members has been playing with custom sound tables, which means you can have AM2R music in these games! (albeit with some effort) I'm sure that there are people within the GBAtroid romhacking community who after trying this demo would be happy to lend a hand, should you go this route instead. Aside from this forum, we also exist as a Discord Server!

I understand that this is your first time posting here, so I would like to inform you that OP is also missing images. As many have said before me, "No pics, no clicks!" Having images on your thread lets people know what to expect out of your hack, and that it's legit.
Not sure about how to embed images into a forum post? This forum uses BBCode, so what you can do is upload your images to a site such as imgur, copy the direct link to your image and paste the link after clicking this button

Otherwise you can simply type in the bbcode for the image like so:

I'll keep my eyes on this project!
