Dying immediately while trying to test?

Well, I was just trying to test my hack when I came across a problem, as soon as I loaded in, Samus had 0 energy. I checked if it was just my hack, but every hack I went on to check, I just keep dying. Please help :(

Quietus

The first thing I'd check is that you haven't accidentally set the test room options to give you zero health. You may need to clear the old file to have the changes take effect. If so, look in SMILE > Files > Temp for a file called QuickMet.srm, and delete it. Then go back to SMILE, set your new options, then try it again.

There is another option you can try, especially if you are using snes9x as your emulator, sometimes smile must have the quickmet.srm file to have it's path set to the same path your emulator uses depending on the emulator you are using...
Try going to the same place where the emulator settings are in smile but click on 'set sram/ram path' instead and set it to the same path your emulator uses...
Either my idea or Quietus' idea should work, don't think there are any other things that could be causing this...

I don't know how to check where the emulator path is neither can I find 'set sram/ram path'

Mettyk25jigsaw

If you have original Smile 2.50 or under (set sram path) it is under file/preferences/run settings/srm folder

If you have smile RF it is under preferences/quickmet settings/save ram path

As for Smile JX it is preferences/run settings/srm folder

Now the emulator sram file should really have a file the same name as your hack file with a file extension also as .srm
As for it's location, there is a good chance there is a folder called 'Saves' in your emulator folder and it is probably stored inside that folder...Otherwise search for it in the start menu which you would just put the name of your hack file in the search area and you are looking for the one that has a file extension as .srm if there is more than one then you may have to try one at a time...

I Hope you can do this for your sake and good luck, don't be afraid to ask me for more help though...

I suggest you read this guide, if your making mistakes like this. http://www.metroidconstruction.com/smmm/ Its over Smile RF.

His problem wasn't a mistake though... Some emulators just require the SRM to be in a specific folder, while others don't. SMILE just defaults to having it with the ROM in the files/temp folder.
That guide is a bit out of date though. I need to poke grime so we can go through it and update everything.
