Smile Issue

Hi,

I've had a certain problem with SMILE JX that I never used to have with Jathy's previous versions of smile on which I cannot go back to using Jathys previous versions of smile due to several certain capabilities that SMILE JX can only utilise (eg. Scroll repoint bank patch by JAM). This has been bugging me for over a year and am hoping that there is something I can do on my own computer that will stop this issue from happening via a cumputer setting for example or wether it can only be done by the author of SMILE JX (I am NOT asking) due to it possibly being a program issue.

Well I guess you better know the issue......
What's been happening is I go and set the "test room options" to the setting I wish them to be. However often when I close smile and then re-open smile again later. All the settings in the 'test room options" have all automatically been brought back to '00' for energy, reserves, Mis, SM, PB and all the tickable items have all automatically changed to 'unticked'. This doesn't happen everytime but if I close smile, I have approximately 50% chance of success and 50% chance of failure of having the settings remain there...

Any possibility that there is something I can do to prevent this?  And if so, how do I do it?

Thanks for any help in advance...

I have a similar problem using an older version (2.50) but my problem is the test settings won't implement when i test. i always end up with default settings. the options show i should start with some equipment but i don't for some reason.

And to answer Odylg, try going into where your saves are (your SRM folder, File > Preference > Run Settings > SRM Folder) and delete the quickmet.srm file. After, go back to your test settings and make sure they're all set how you want them and enter quickmet. Should be the fix you're looking for.

I can attest to person's solution.  That bugged me for ages before finidng it.

I would have thought the issue with Odylg would be that he just needs to set a path from the run settings/sram option and set it to the same path that his emulator uses to run it's sram file due to some emulators require you to do so or else the problem he is having would exist...(just in-case person701's option doesn't work, who knows they may both work idk)...
As for JAM's suggestion, unless 'unknown 0010' has to be checked, I have definitely always pressed on save settings every time, I never ever press on cancel or exit, but the problem still exists, but I will try ticking 'unknown 0010' if that was what 'JAM' was trying to get at...
By the way 'Odylg' if you want another option to try to fix your issue, try using the emulator 'Snes9x--version 1.41....I know that for me with this one you do not have to do anything with a sram path to make it work, probably because by default the emulator already uses the same path that your rom is in, but if that doesn't work maybe you need to set the sram path inside smile to the path of your rom but I don't think you need to (for snes9x v1.41 that is)...

That's what I'm saying though I likely left out some important details to those new with SMILE.

It never hurts to make sure that SMILE is checking the correct folder for where the .srm is being saved to. They may not even need to change/set the location, but by going through the previously specified menu in SMILE 2.5 (again: File > Preference > Run Settings > SRM Folder) they can find where SMILE is storing the quickmet.srm, which I know is causing his problem. From there, as I said, deleting the afore mentioned file and then re-entering the testroom will most likely solve the issue.

Odylg

the srm was set to a folder in my roms folder. i set it to the save folder and it works now. that's been bugging me for awhile, thanks for the help!

btw I'm using snes9x 1.43
