So, I've recently played the Mega Man World games, and I consider them amazing. Every game (except World 2) was developed by Minakuchi Engineering. I don't know if they are considered canon, but I think these games are. Each title's events happen between two NES Mega Man games (e.g. MMW1 happens between MM1 and MM2). Each game (minus World 5) has four stages from the earlier NES game and four from the later (e.g. in MMMW1 four from MM1 and four from 2). At the end, each of the 4 has a new Robot Master, in World 1 it's Enker, in 2 - Quint, aka the future Mega Man, 3 - Punk, 4 - Ballade. That said, the World 5 includes a different plot, with Robots called Stardroids attacking Earth, because... of course. This is hands down the best game in the lineup, yet I think all are great. Here's my ranking:
5. MMW2
4. MMW1
3. MMW3
2. MMW4
1. MMW5.
This is the whole review, if you can call it a review... I am really bad at this, am I...

The Game Boy Mega Mans are some of my favorite games. Despite the reputation they have for being on wealer hardware or recycling content, they are all delightfully idiosyncratic.

It's been a while since I've gave them a good playthrough, but I'd rank them as follows:

5. MM3GB -- This is in an awkward spot, where it's production values are higher than the previous two games, but it lacks the breakneck ambition of its successors. The result is a game that is hard and quite mean about it. The levels are full of repetitive traps and pixel perfect jumps, with Dust Man's stage being the worst offender.

4. MM2GB -- Kinda awkward, amateurishly produced, but very charming (if your ears can survive it).The low difficulty of this game works to its benefit. It also has a delightfully bonkers plot set-up and ending stage. Embrace the jank. Bonus points for having the least lag too.

3. MM4GB --- Here's where the production value and ambition of the GB series starts exceeding anything from the NES titles. The final Wily fight in particular is more bombastic than anything from any other classic Mega Man, and the final boss that MM3 for the NES wishes it had. Unfortunately, its ambition is also its biggest weakness, with the stages all dragging on for much longer than they need to.

2. MM5GB -- Takes its predecessor's ambition and joins it with reasonably scoped stages and a wholly original set of bosses, to create something that's a joy from start to finish. Unfortunately, it is also quite laggy, but I hear the colorization fixes that.

1. MM1GB - An odd pick for #1, but I maintain that the levels in this are immaculately constructed. Carry is also my favorite platforming item in the series.

I flip flop between which of my top 2 I like more, but otherwise these have been my opinions for a while.
