I read about metroids on tvtropes and acording to them there are 2 variationts

"red Metroids always seek out Samus, though lazily, while green Metroids are a little more likely lie in wait but charge much faster"

Is this true? And if it is,then was this somehow explained why there are only 1 type of metroid in zero mission?

Well, in NEStroid there are 2 variants for enemies, apart from a palette change one is considered a harder version.
Usually that means the harder enemies can take more hits before they die.
With the rippers the normal version is undestructable, the other version is killable via missiles or screw attack.
For the Metroids i couldn't really make out any difference though.

Well, yes, there is a difference, i checked again. My memory betrayed me.
