Guess I'll introduce the world to my first hack, Super Metroid: No Love. Here is a room that i put the finishing touches on today.

And here is a Video to show off of BG2 effects

looks very nice! :whoa: but it looks kinda like a gameboy advance tileset tbh, that doesn't mean that this not looks incredibly beautiful! i really like the idea of future hacks turns to this way

Dude that is sick!

Didn't get around to making a contest hack... but that doesn't mean I haven't been working on anything

Make sure you scroll right in the image, the better part of the room is that side.

I'm curious as to what people think of this palette.

As per Benox request, a red crateria room >:D
From the volcano cone above the georeactor.

The wire that the kihunters like to perch on runs from the nearby towers to an antenna array. Their eggs hatch a bit beter when near a heat source.

Since the kihunters are a bit powerful, Samus is preparing a reserve energy damage conversion boost:

Now I can't remember if I submitted this room already. If I have, just tell me on Discord and I'll submit a different one.

Benox50 won last month with a pretty Super Metroid water room. Now, we have 7 room makers from August:

Now vote for August - may the best room designer win!

On another note, there have been discussions between OneOf and I for the rules of this contest. As of recently, a lot of submitters have been uploading other images and media to their posts to showcase their rooms. This point has been discussed before many times, but I would like to bring it up publicly. What do you think about submitting images and media with rooms? Should it become a new exception, or should the contest be left how it is? Honest opinions would be helpful - thank you for your time.  :^_^:

I think allowing additional media would be a good thing. Some rooms look better in-game and editor screenshots don't always do them justice.

boostin

I don't think It should be a required thing but more as an optional thing to do to showcase special effects the creator has done (if they have done any at all).

Like on mine, I did a bg2 edit but the editor screenshots can't show that so I would had to go in game for either a screenshot (which wouldn't showcase the glowing effect) or make a short, simple video.

I submit stuff mostly for the fun sense of.community. for certain some.rooms can't be seen without the effects, and you end up with two fairly different contest s depending on what gets judged.

I won't weigh in on which way things should go, since it doesn't matter either way to me. But for those who do care, think about if the contest should be about the tiling or about getting across the feel of the gameplay of the end result.

This is a good point, as you raise the issue of a room's looks versus gameplay. I voted for MetroidNerd last month because I thought his room looked fun to play, even though the tileset use was at mediocre at best. But I think ROTM is about both these things. A good room is a room that looks nice or plays nice, but a great room that deserves to win should do both, no? In any case I am for including videos and gifs in the voting entries somehow.

Oh also I voted for Conner because that tileset is sick and the room looks well designed.
