As i am new to Metroid construction i will be creating my first hack, as of now it is in Alpha V1.1 as time goes on i will update it and eventually fix all the bugs that come about, i hope your ready for a worthy adversary of a hack.  The Basic Premise of "Rank Up" is the fact that almost every enemy and door are... well... ranked up, making it harder to kill the monsters and open the doors.  The routes are the same, however, almost every door, enemy and some items are different.  Will you survive long enough to escape without getting stuck? well, that's up to you.

The concept may have been used a few times, but my hack's rooms will not copy any of those.  As far as i know, i can use the same concept/premise, i just can't plagiarize other people's room ideas and use them as my own.

I don't believe their problem is that you are taking from others but more that you are just taking what exists and redoing it, again. The problem here is that it has been done so many times that unless you add someone new then this isn't a terribly original idea, and people don't like unoriginal work. People want something new, something they haven't seen a thousand times. Therefore, unless you introduce something surprising and "new" you will not please many people.

That said, everyone needs to start somewhere. Use this hack to develop your abilities. I know that personally I went through two hacks learning as I went before working on a more successful one.

Croak please use normal images for screenshots, both of your pdf files are damaged and not viewable in any pdf apps.

Both of the screenshots are clear images that you can download and view easily, if they don't work for you it's probably what your using to open them with, if i'm able to view them clearly and other people can see them as well (one example being SupAymon) then i don't think they are damaged and unviewable.

Sorry but the problem still falls back on the files itself.
Opera, Chrome, edge, Firefox, those download them fine.
Adobe acrobat reader dc and foxit pdf reader both report the files is not recognizable.

If you can take screenshots and upload that would be best in the long run for any user.

Tried it and they even open easily on my phone, it's not the files. I mean you definitely should use .png instead, but these aren't broken

Actually, the problem is that they ARE PNG's, it's just that the files are named .pdf for some reason.

Kuto's to mister fish, I checked the files with my phone using opera, it said was .png.
The hack itself though if you do plan on that, make sure to balance out the difficulty and raise the enemys hp and strength by area.
Don't bother the enemies speed if you don't what your doing, if you have 4 of the same species in one room.
Chances are one of them might be a little bit too fast or warping around the room till you kill it.

I'm interested to see what you will do, make sure to give the rooms abit of a upgrade and change the palettes and tiles.

ok, to clear all the issues with the screenshots, they are png files originally, however, when i tried to add them as png files to the post, Metroid Construction wouldn't let me as it was not in the accepted list of file extensions, so the best thing i could change it to so it would still work as a screenshot was a pdf file.  Sorry for all the confusion.

Also, Dark-SA-X, as of right now i am planning on raising the hp and strength, i am also working on a small palette for red enemies (i originally wasn't going to make any palette changes but when a bug occured making a sova take on a green geemer's palette, i decided that it looked good) when i have done that i will continue to make more palettes for enemies color by color (so i don't get overloaded with it all at once) later i might even work on room palettes.  And finally as you say i should give the rooms an upgrade, i am going to be doing that when i have fixed the one colored screen issues i have been having (Alpha V1.4 when that update is done, will have all the answers about upgrading rooms)

What most people do when posting screenshots or other images to the forums here is upload the .png (or .gif or whatever) files to an image host, such as your own website or dropbox or imgur, and then just copy/paste the link in your post here.

I'll throw you my rom hack sometime this week so you can see and test what I've done with the enemies and the planet so far.
You should look into metroid super zero mission and grab some ideas on palettes and level design as well begrimes recent hack.

I'd be glad to test out and look at what you have done with your hack, if i find any bugs i will inform you about them, also, i will not tamper with it (as it may lead to a purple screen, as well as the fact that i don't want to mess with something that's not mine) Lastly, I will not base anything in my hack off of things in yours if you don't wish me to do so.
