Should we have an Automated-Metroid contest?

Yes
No
Maybe

This is a poll to as whether we should have a Automated-Metroid contest. The rules are simple, don't move samus, let her scroll through the environments on her own using treadmills, enemies, and anything else you can conjure up.

This idea originally came from videos such as this:

Obviously we're hacking a different game so we can't use the same tactics, but here's how such a idea would work in the metroid world:

I would like to note that this doesn't have any practical use, it's purely entertainment. If you would be interested in a contest such as this give me some feedback.

Making SM into a Line Rider induced sights n sees ride seems awesome, just don't do it too much. Also I like the music on the SMW one, strange...

I'm all for making a game like this.  idk if the higher ups would want to do a contest around it though. (not to mention we just had a contest a few weeks ago... :P)

For it to be much fun to watch though, we'd need some custom code up in here!

Well, we don't even have to make it an 'Official' contest or anything. If 4 or 5 people is willing to enter than I say we go ahead and do it. This kind of project forces you to be creative and use enemies and other objects in a unusual way, that's what I like about it.

ok, here are a few things I would want if I were to enter said contest:

1) Those blocks Black_Falcon made for directional shinesparking.  This wasn't so great for other hacks, choosing which way you went was a good idea, but for this kind of hack, the blocks are better.

2) ZM/F styled speedbooster, where you get your speed back when you hit a slope. (Sadfish is still working on this atm iirc)

3) bts blocks that make you do certain actions when you touch them. (run, jump, shoot, etc)

These things would make for a much more exciting watch!

Go ahead. This sounds like a major pain in the ass to pull off but maybe you might surprise me?

Isn't hacking in general a major pain in the ass? Yet we do it so much and love it. But yeah, lining those platforms up for timing takes some patience.

And squishy, I don't see why all of that would be a problem. Don't move Samus manually is the only rule, if you could make Samus auto-speedboost then I see it no different than a hyped up treadmill.

I think it would be an awesome contest. Some would go all-out for something like this and trying to build it so everything works right and is amazing. Plus creating some custom ASM to make Samus morph and fire without pressing any buttons. Would be quite challening.

Flamestar666 was talking about making a auto-morph BTS. He was talking like it'd be easy, but you really know until you actually try making them. The problem with this contest right now is entrants not votes. I'd like to get atleaast 4 people in if I can. We can make the timeframe as long as everybody needs, so people could just pick at it in their spare time, or when they just need a break from their main hack(s). If anybody else would be interested in entering please let me know.
