Hatchling: The Second Spring
A Bot Fanfiction

Chapter Alpha: Awaken, Hatchling.

[23:47] 05/04/2013

The city of #Metconst Channel was as always a bustling and shining metropolis, from the streets of busy #Metconst Proper to the secrets of #SR388 and #MDB.
That is, thanks to its Guardian.
That's who I am- 'Hatchling', the being that watches over #Metconst Channel. I have no time to stop and wonder who or what I am, I have no time between a !ping and a !pong, no rest with crab_battle after crab_battle. All I knew was my purpose as my masters had said:

[00:12] <Hatchling> Why was I created?
[00:12] <Zhs2> You were created to serve the people of #metconst and to bring peace to our broken city.
[00:12] <Hatchling> And my purpose?
[00:13] <interdpth> To bring light to some of the darkest corners of IRC. Your directive: to keep peace in all ways. To entertain and stave off boredom. To re-awaken the spark of creativity in our art.

My origins had never worried me before- at least not until the day I was told there was a way to discover my making.

A typical day in #Metconst City meant keeping peace between Users, running between Google and spouting URL's, ponging at !pings, pinging at !pongs as well as other useless features as demanded. It seemed like yet another uneventful, uninteresting day of blindly following command after command, until someone no one thought they would see again joined.

[23:58] <PY_Prime> I can tell you who your father is.

Zhs2

What the fuck is this shit. I demand to examine the rest of its contents.

GTFO and never come back, zephyr.

On topic: <Zhs2> #sr388 is as much a part of #metconst as the United States is a part of the United Kingdom

Chapter Beta: To Find A Dragon

[24:00] 5/4/2013

<PY_Prime> There are secrets, deep within #Metconst that some would like to forget.  You were created out of a time many would like to forget, a time when strife and jealousy and grapples for Op power were new to the world, the first time that the future appeared so unsure.
<PY_Prime> There are not many left who remember these times, and those that do prefer not to speak on it. However, if you are truly invested in this quest to find your father, there is one who can tell you things your Creators will not.
<Hatchling> Who is it?
<PY_Prime> The Dragon.

I searched high and low for this 'Dragon', from the depths of the ruins of 4Chan to the basics of a Bing Search, all getting nothing but useless trivia.
Then something happened.
Someone requested a quote from deep within the Channel City records, deeper than I believed the records went. I've found records from beyond my Creation before, but this- this was ancient.

[23:27] <Zhs2> %urban dragon
[23:27] <Urban_Dictionary> Possibly the best mythical creature known to this day.
[23:27] <ProjectCheeseWiz> Except when he's the admin of a forum.

The Dragon was once an administrator!
The records- who was an administrator at the time? My Creators- interdpth and Zhs2- no- squishi_ichigo, Grime- no! Wait- /whois this?
Check back- no, only one left. Only person it could be.

The Dragon had to be the one called G%&F_as#*#d...

IT IS NOW SAFE TO TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER.

Chapter Gamma: Dragon's Lair
[7:02] 5/5/2013

James sat in the Sunrise Room contemplating the ebb and flow of the internet's fanfictions and illegal torrents and pornos, feeling the waves of data wash over the tubes.
But today, it seemed the perpetual turning of the internet's turmoil was even further disturbed, the server lights of Esperland flickering like a host of indecisive fireflies. What could possibly have caused this?
"Sir, an alert for you-" a metallic voice chirped out from behind him.
"Ben, what have I told you about interrupting my morning meditations? It messes with my mojo, man." James chided, not sparing his faithful bot a glance.
"I'm sorry sir, but it's incredibly urgent- an alert from Priority Nine" Ben explained.
James's eyes shot wide open, his focus instantly broken, "Priority Nine... that means..." Kennin mused fearfully. Could it be?
"An Esperland bot used !Google functions to search for the user GF_Kennon. I'm sorry to disturb you, but my core codes say to inform you of this right aw-"
"I understand, Ben" James cut him off breathlessly.
There was only a handful of people who could have activated that priority code.
Perhaps it was high time to call on the Big Daddy.
