I thought you didn't notice lower passage. But why don't you have speed then? Sure wave can't pass through those "forcefields" but you can.

Yeah I don't have speed, however what I have just noticed is that in this room, it's not the blue beam stopping me from progressing.... Oops. Looks like I found somewhere to go.

I just never noticed the half room height wall. lmao

So now, I'm stuck again? Oh god this is embarassing... I have every main item, got plasma, gravity etc. Opened the gates, did all I could then went to Tourian. Well that was kinda empty, and I can't think of, nor see any other rooms I haven't been into to find the end of the game.

Re-read into text. "Objective, kill Ridley."
There should have been a popup message after getting gravity about returning to ship too, but not sure if it always appears nowdays.
You're done(except maybe for optional items). There's no mother brain in this version.

2.5 is coming!

I know I said it last time, but THIS is going to be the final major release of Return to Zebes. Probably the biggest overhaul the hack has seen since the initial 2.0 release.

Find the 2.5 download here: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/680112565808005177/1000950837436223569/RTZ_R2.5_Pre-1.bps

I'd appreciate anyone play-testing. I think I know most of the issues that still need to be fixed, but it would be nice if you'd tell me them anyway, just in case!
2.4.6 is here!

Also, please leave a review on the hack page when it's approved. I would greatly appreciate it! http://metroidconstruction.com/hack.php?hack_id=393
Hello, everyone!

I'd like to announce to you all that release 2.4 will likely be the final version of Metroid: Return to Zebes (besides bug fixes and general polishing).

For anyone that's played this hack before, expect a lot of changes and new content. For those who haven't might wanna wait until I release 2.4 so you can have the best possible play experience.

I'm very excited that this hack is almost complete, and I'm very happy that you have all taken this journey with me. When I first booted up MAGE three years ago, i never expected to actually finish a hack, yet here we are.

I'm very grateful for all of your continued support on the project, even if it isn't a very good hack.

The latest version 2.3.1 can be found here: http://metroidconstruction.com/hack.php?id=393

I appreciate any reviews you all leave on the hack page, whether positive or negative. I'll admit, it boosts my ego a little bit.
Release 2.2 out now
http://metroidconstruction.com//files/hacks/393/RTZ_2.2_release.ips
Hello, everyone. It's me again! You know, one of the dudes that's never released a good hack. Well I have some news for y'all, this one may actually get completed. I've been working on RTZ for nearly a year now, and I think it's about time I made a forum post about it!

This isn't another "Super Metroid in Zero Mission" type hack, though that's what it started as. But I ended up taking it in a different direction (for the better). I aim to take ideas and locations from all 2D Metroid games. I like to imagine it as sort of a "Metroid 1.5". It will have areas of Zebes reminiscent of Super Metroid, Zero Mission, and even some NEStroid inspiration.

Planned features
-Mostly new map
-Some new art and palettes (Mostly done)
-4 areas of Zebes to explore (Half way done)
-Many speedrunning short cuts (Not started on for the most part)
-Extreme sequence break potential (Check!)
-Custom music (Mostly done)
Here are some screenshots

I'm not ready to release an IPS just yet, so hold out!

Side note: If anyone would be willing to take some time to help teach me ASM, I would greatly appreciate it. If you don't want to or don't have the time, that's okay too! Alternatively, if you'd be so kind as to link me to a good tutorial, that would be great as well!

Thank you all of reading, and I hope you're as excited for this hack as I am!
If I had an estimate, I'd say this hack is a little over half way done.

New update coming soon. See main post for information.

alexman25

Okay, so, bit of an update, with an important question.

As some of you may or may not know, I'd intended to include a full-on secondary bonus hack with RTZ upon the next release (it'd be in the same ROM, even). Said hack would be called Vermifuge, being a remake of my old hack: Vermifugal. But, it's taking me a long time to actually work on that, is the problem.

Zebes itself is almost done. Like, super duper close, even. Here's the shtick.

I'm getting tired of having this update on my plate, and I think people are excited for it. Vermifuge is the biggest obstical keeping me from releasing the update. Like, I'm genuinely kinda stressed over having to work on a whole other giant area before release, even though everything else is almost done.

So, I ask you this: Should I release the update once Zebes is finished, or should I wait until I'm finished with Vermifuge?

NOTE: Releasing the update early does NOT mean I will stop working on Vermifuge; it just means it'll be in a separate 2.5.X update, along with whatever bug fixes are needed after release.

I don't know how to make a forum poll, or if that's even something non-admins can do, so here is your StrawPoll link; https://strawpoll.com/polls/BJnX87erLnv

While I'm interested in Vermifuge I'd hate for the deadline to make this an unenjoyable experience for you. RTZ was already a fine hack and I'm equally curious to see how you've progressed on that project as well. Personally, I'm content to wait on Vermifuge a while, if and when you're ready to drop the new RTZ.
