Is there a way to have Xray set to a different button?

When playing hacks. I find it frustrating having to cancel the x-ray to be able to run. Is there a patch that can allow me to set this to its own button? That can work with metroid construction hacks?

It's easy to make a patch that changes the xray button that works on most hacks, but many hacks modify the same code; See: Subversion using the "Shoot" button for xray.
