Super Metroid Redesign Axiel Edition - Restored Physics

Hello! So I started playing redesign again and really still could never get used to Samus' physics, so I changed some of the physics back to the way they are in the original Super Metroid.

You can jump a little bit higher now than in the original. And you can still auto morph and auto walljump like in Axiel. Ball speed has also been restored to its original speed.

Falling from ledges isn't such a fast plummet now. Pickups give you a reasonable refill amount. Bomb jumping is insanely high for some reason but I like it better this way anyways. (you can still time the bomb jumping, just differently now).

Ceres was removed because of it freezing during the opening scene. Jumping in water seems better and you can now actually fall in acid/lava with hope for surviving.

I don't know if you can sequence break, though I was able to get a few items earlier, like sm's, energy tanks etc. Maybe an area can be reached w/o ice beam, but I suggest grabbing it anyways, make life easier for yourself.

I'm just still playing through now and haven't run into any problems, so if you like it and/or encounter any major glitches or sequence breaks please let me know. Enjoy!  :yay:

does this include the ability to wall jump from any surface from original SM or is it still the same in (Redesign/Axeil)?

Noxus

Walljump boots are still required, although you do obtain them early on in the game. From there you can kick off pretty much any surface.

gr8tmaker

nope, that part of the "physics" is still the same in original redesign/axeil, tried it myself and most of the "physics" of Redesign/Axeil is still there, jumping IS slightly better but the "physics" ARE still the same. Not EVERY surface you CAN "kick off" as it still Redesign/Axeil.

Noxus

Ok.

knockback is higher than b4, since in your last comment says "Walljump boots are still required, although you do obtain them early on in the game. From there you can kick off pretty much any surface", that part is not true at all, as your description of what you "have done" for Redesign/Axiel are not really "restored physics", for example:

-You can jump a little bit higher now than in the original > that is not REALLY restored at all
-Falling from ledges isn't such a fast plummet now > you still do no matter how you see it
-when moving left or right,if by chance you get hit or "touch" by some rando enemy you get knockback at least 2 blocks distance back
-moving left or right and go down a shaft or a room below it feels still plenty plummeting that's also in morphball
-also forgot to mention,  for some reason after a sommersault you quickly lose momentum to reach higher platforms BECAUSE you still plummet down not a RESTORED physic.

Noxus

You're right. I didn't get the physics of the original Super Metroid down to exact specifications. I'm sorry to have fallen short of your expectations. Would you like a refund?

gr8tmaker

nah , but would like a "revision" of your work, can't get your work go to waste.

Learn hex editing and see just how much of it is in fact changed.  :heheh:
