Noxus

Story: After defeating Mother Brain and detonating Tourian, the shockwave of the explosion shifted the orbital path of Planet Zebes, moving it closer to the sun. Over time, the Zebian polar ice caps melted, leaving the entire planet submersed underwater. Samus returns to Zebes twenty years later to confront a second Mother Brain that spawned out of the depths, along with new dangers.

hey. difficulty and tricks needed for 100% ?

Tomtroid

Just another halfhack and Zebes is just flooded (which is what the hack's going for). As for the difficulty? I think anyone who's crazy enough to play it, this hack's for you.

All items are accessible w/o special tricks. All items and beat game in under 3 hrs is a different story. It gets progressively faster the further you get into it. And it's 102% I believe. (don't bother getting the ones in the 2 crappy quicksand rooms in Maridia, you know the ones.. no items are in there).

sure is nice being stuck in the first missile room uh...

if you know how to crouch jump and ledge grab, you can get out.
just not collect those, there's a different pack you can pick up and not go down there
Neat hack, liking it so far, but i think i managed to get stuck.
I sparked left over the croc door, and it seems like getting out requires pbs, or gravity(and i have neither of those).
Actually, that's put there in the beginning kinda like those max height things they put in the lines of roller coasters.. you must be this tall to ride. Only, you must be able to crouch/jump out of this hole or you will likely not have any fun playing this game lol  :^_^: Once you know how, it's pretty second nature. Crouch, jump, hold down so you're aiming down, and edge over to the ledge.

Thanks!  :yay:
You should be able to get pbs before sparking over above croc. I am not sure even how you managed to spark left w/o pbs, but you're close to them if you were there.
Just stored charge, jumped over the blockade and sparked.

Found a bug in the bowling room. Super there is respawning, and that crashes the game if you use x-ray.

Thanks for finding these. I fixed the blockades, now there are 2 of them, hopefully nobody will find a way over both in time to spark. Thanks especially for finding the super respawning, had no idea that was why x-ray crashed the game.

Beat the hack, got 100% according to end screen.
Couple more issues:
Doors that lead to different area need to have a bit set somewhere in their properties to save current area map/load new one. There's been at least two(i think)(non vanilla) that didn't do that causing map to not save properly.
Some of the rooms are placed in wrong places of the map, vanilla wave at least. Rooms that connect to green brinstar elevator shaft too i think. Recharge after GT.
Charge beam item had plasma beam gfx iirc.
On the right half of the Colosseum, ceiling grapple blocks werent actually grappleable.
Zebetites seemed to selfdestruct, and mb room section didn't close properly(tho i'm guessing this has to have been known).
Acid lowering torizo didn't want to trigger propery at first for some reason.
saveless ridley :E

Some of the speed blocks in the hack suggested gravity would be available somewhere, and given the answer about 102% it might have been, just didn't find it.
But if it wasn't in the hack, speed blocks in Wasteland were confusing, since there didn't seem to be a way to get speed there, short of "glitches".
Capless doors on the way out of vanilla springball also suggest speed there, which would require gravity, aaaand getting speed in shaqtool's room, only to immedietly spark left in spring ball room without grabbing the item. Unless door connecting to wrong room wasn't intentional.
No idea if these might have been fixed already, and unable to tell which of the old versions I'm playing because someone doesn't update version numbers *grumblegrumle*

Overall fun hack, kind of interesting that maridia felt least difficult/most nerfed by QoL changes. Items were nicely done.
Was positively surprised by rainbow beam damage, unless i just don't know how game works.
Oh, and intentinally(i hope) abusing bg to prevent speed in waterless rooms was A+.

Thank you for making the hack

Hey, thanks again for finding these things. The map doesn't always work properly and not sure how to put bit sets in the door properties. May be something to fix later but I'm just glad the game is stable right now. Some rooms I had to remove because they froze the game (sometimes they'd work, and I'd fix something, then the next time they'd freeze the game), but they ended up being part of the overall game in the end. (the warp room in ws was one of those)

In Ridley I wish too there was a save room before Ridley. Tried to make Ridley somewhat easier to beat. MB is slightly easier and is why I threw in random missiles, also hp for zebetites set at 0 so you'd be able to save everything you have for the MB battle. (no charge beam so once you're out you're out)

Some speed blocks, yeah in wasteland were leftovers from another hack I was making. I should probably remove those sometime.
The original spring ball room.. if you have space jump and screw attack, you can begin a jump in that room from gravity to water, where you can spin all the way left toward the entrance to Maridia and get the missle in a 'stylish' way. But not required. Other places you can do this as well. At least makes screw attack somewhat useful :)

The atmosphere in the long hallway set to 'rain' made the spark take longer to trigger was a sort of happy mistake. Spoiler for there - you know how you can charge out right to get the reserve tank.. If you run out the left way instead, start your spark and boost rightways into where the 'save' room would be, you will find another warp zone.
Thanks for the help and for enjoying playing, I appreciate it!

I'm guessing you're using one of the smile versions. I'm not 100% sure how that works, but (make a backup first, then) if the circled field for area transition doors is editable, try adding 0x40(hex) to it, as in if it was 00 before, try making it 40.

You could ask about it on the forums or in metconst discord(it's a bit more active than forums currently).
All I can say is yes, gravity suit is somewhere in the game
Some issues that came up on 2nd playthrough.
Some of the ceiling grapple blocks in the Colosseum still don't work as such.
Some refill rooms have a tiny tiling errors(gray corner tile of the refill station floats in the air), green brin main shaft missile refill, and kraid refill come to mind but i'd recommend checking all of them.
You're probably aware, but i'll mention it anyway, saves load in the middle of the room where vanilla position is, not where you moved it. These things are editable afaik, but don't know how to do that myself.

Nice place for gravity :p

Again, thanks for the hack.

Noxus

Thanks, I will look into these and also maybe try to fix the map issue. I laugh when you say tiling errors because that is like my biggest pet peeve  If there was a refill station I missed one of the corners for, I would open everything up just to fix that little corner. Call it ocd if you like. Anyways, there were some other things I wanted to touch up as well, minor things. I don't know if I feel confident to leave it like it is with the crouch/jump, or if I should just be a cool guy and add/remove some tiles so n00bs can get up to them. I'd hate for ppl to get stuck at the first rocket room and just give up on the whole game. Anyways, will let you know once an update is finished. Thx  :^_^:

Don't fix the crouch jump.  It's a key feature of the hack and a trick everyone should know or learn.

My biggest issue is I wish the hack somehow gave a little better idea of where to go next after picking up a key item.  For example I got a couple goodies and thought I could explore Maridia but keep running into Super Missile doors everywhere I go and I don't have them yet.  I'm not sure how strict the intended sequence is here.  Here's what I do have --
morph, bombs, 80 missiles, 4 tanks, ice beam, grapple, spring ball, rapid shot
Hint as to where I should be looking around next?

Thanks Donny, I was leaning towards keeping crouch jump too.  :yay:
Ok, for SM, you need to defeat spore spawn, and to get to him, you will need power bombs. They are in around the same area as they were in the original game. To get that though, you will need speed booster, which is up where you needed grapple to get to.
Hey, updated the game v4.1 is now available. Special thanks caaudyjdp for the awesome review and all the help you've given. Map works perfect! I'd have never guessed changing the code to 40 would do the trick. This version has more opportunities to spin from gravity rooms to water rooms and keeping your spark from the screw attack. Crouch/jump was kept in place. I hope you all enjoy the update!

Compatible with my existing save?

Edit:  So if I got a pack of super missiles and haven't battled SpoSpo yet, did I sequence break?  Cause if so yay me!

Should be compatible although you might have to rename the rom to 3.9 or what it was before so the snes will read it. If you got supers w/o spospo, congrats! No you didn't sequence break so much as you went up and got them early from up above instead of going through spospo. (unless of course you don't have pb's yet). Shame on you!

I don't have PBs yet!  I actually can't find them, but I'm also not asking yet.  I got my first supers from
gauntlet
Edit:  Did I miss space jump somewhere?  I can't find a way to lower the acid in LN.  Also, I never have found a way to get up to Spore spawn from either direction.  I believe I have all items except for space jump.
