Multiple Map colors

I've always wondered how SM escape II got the map to display different colored tiles/ more than just blue tiles. How is this accomplished? I thnk It would be very useful to help clarify some things in my hack.

Thats not what he was referring to but good try.

Mentlegen are you using RF or SMART? I use RF and its just as simple as picking a different palette and using the tile. SMART may do something different but it's just that easy.

Yeah I've used this, but they don't show up differently on the map screen or minimap

Yeah, also having map colors that are colored differently (using a different palette from the pink one) when explored would be great. But I am pretty sure it would require some custom code.

No, I'm pretty sure it works like this, use palette 1 as unexplored and it will use palette 0 as explored. Use palette 3 as unexplored, then it will use palette 2 as explored. Then keeping the same sequence--5/7 unexplored will use 4/6 as explored.
