EDIT: FYI to newcomers: the same version in this thread is now posted at http://metroidconstruction.com/hack.php?id=394

Metroid II EJRTQ Colorization is looking for beta testers. This is a complete recoding of EJRT's beautiful but horrifically buggy colorization (original: http://aderack.com/m2/) that features support for all emulators and real hardware plus features not in the original colorization such as screen fading and object flashing (see readme for full details).

Video of a slightly older build:

Please give it a try and let me know what you think and if you encounter any issues with it. And if anybody is the type to record runs (e.g. speedruns) please let me know the video URL.

I found a bug in the colors:

this one frame is black and white.

it's on both sides.

EDIT: invisible blocks are not invisible:

quantam

Both of those are how EJRT did it (e.g. screw attack alternates between red and blue every frame). I intentionally left the art almost entirely unchanged as I was trying to fix his colorization rather than make a derivative work with different colorization. This includes... well... I won't spoil it, but you'll know the big one if you see it.

or rather not...in area 1, these guys are invisible, and samus is invisible inside the temple, along with the upgrades and expansions...

...what? That definitely isn't supposed to happen (and didn't when I played the full game just prior to releasing it). What emulator are you using? And what's the CRC32 of GBC file you got after patching?

liamnajor

a javascript one from github from 2015, and I don't know. the emulator does have issues with color, so...

quantam

I've full-cleared it on BGB, and captured video on mGBA. Higan appears to also work, though I have only played a bit with it. I know somebody else played it on GBP in a previous build. It should work on other emulators as it meets all the timing windows, but I haven't tried it on others. My recommendation is to verify the GBC file is correct and see how accurate the emulator is supposed to be.

I'll give it a go on my nes mini (using gearboy) and let you know what happens. I streamed a full playthrough of the version you're basing this off of and it had no issues with invisible enemies or anything.

I just finished playing a VC inject on my 2DS, it worked very well except for 2 problems.

1 - As stated above, fake blocks are very obvious.

2 - Samus is colored completely incorrectly in the ending scene, she was brown with silverish purple hair.

I gave it a go through Gambatte on my nes mini and it's working great. Screen fading and item flashing are very nice to have in this version.

but why? isn't the m2 boxart with the "color" part slapped on good enough?

Um it's suppose to be a customized box ?
If you want me to slap on color on the original box art.

Edit:
Here you go this exactly what you wanted:

I'll do it and upload it for you only and anyone else. :=x:

What can't you get to work? And what steps have you taken up to this point?
