Excellent Hack, very good atmosphere, totally new level design. There were moments when I felt some fear for the environment, the end because I did not expect it, it was a surprise.
Time: 05:33:20
Capacity: 87.3%
Something I want to ask is if the "X-ray viewer" is in inventory because I never found it.
Excellent work and congratulations to the creators "Hack of the Year 2020".

Steel Sparkle

Oh crap this is out? Gonna play it immediately!
Everyone is saying this is great so i can't wait to see what all the praise is about <3

Would someone please give me a nudge in the right direction?

I currently have...
Charge, Ice, Wave, Spazer, and Plasma Beams; High Jump and Speed Booster; and Spring Ball, Grapple, and Screw Attack. I have defeated Kraid, Phantoon, Draygon, Spore Spawn, and Botwoon. I am currently in Andavald (although I can access other areas) and it looks like there is a spot in the ceiling that I should be able to access, but it appears to be covered by a bunch of green tiles. Same with another door in a shaft just to the right. I have used speed to access a forced death area (?) that appeared to warp my safe to a room to the right.

Any vague hint as to the area I should be searching? Should I stay in Andavald or go somewhere else? There's probably a speed block I've forgotten about in some area that I need to go to but I'm having trouble retracing all of my steps. Thanks in advance!
The Great Schnoz

I'm back after a million years.

On a site I'm not too crazy about but still go to, there was an image of this hack's title page with Ditigal Mantra's name on it. I had to come here and download this hack, I've yet to play it though. Reading everything about it, I see it's preferred that it's spoiler free, posting here, videos, or otherwise. So, out of respect, I'll refrain from videos and spoilers until I've played it.

In my opinion, any hacks Digital Mantra does is gold and must be played regardless of difficulty level.

Off subject: Is bioniclegenius around these days? Perhaps using a different username (or not)? I wouldn't mind seeing who can beat this one first, if here and interested . . . .

DiMan, Question.
Is it possible to complete this masterpiece WITHOUT single death?

Tower

Where is official discusion about this? Here or on Super metroid?

Quietus

Here is fine, but please remember to keep things spoiler free for now.

Tower

I played it and holy shit its so fucking good.
Like oh my god its amazing. Stuff he managed to do with save points.
And amount of non linearity in this game. Just holy shit my god.
Just a question. I managed to murder Ridley and go down an elevator to tourian thingy and fought crocomire, but without gravity suit. Where to get it. I also saw a speed booster blocks in right part of the norfair thingy, there where you get ice beam. How do you go througt them? The usage of ship is a bit unfair as it doesnt save game. After the end it is quite obvious why it doesnt but i still got suprised by a fact that i had to go and get morph ball and rockets again. Is it possible to get power bombs early so the rocks wont crash onto a ship?
Digital_Mantra

makazuwr32,
No, you have to die at least once for the final sequence.
Tower,
Look for a wave gave around the ice beam temple, as for the speed blocks around there, you build a charge from above and fall down to it, the timing is tight.
DiMan, that's sad.
I hoped that there will be another variant of ending for those who did not die through game even once.
Thanks for your answer Digital_Mantra.
My second playthrough of V I T A L I T Y will be with the new patch.

Oh! and thanks a million for making this wonderful game, every new area that I reach is amazing.

Steel Sparkle

I beat this game a few days ago and wanted to mull over it before posting my thoughts.
I will try to keep it short.
This is a fun game and it has great atmosphere. The ending itself makes this game worth playing through. This is merely my opinion and is a pure subjective thing but as cool as the non linearity of this hack is this can make it easy to miss power ups like Spazer/Wave/Varia and even Gravity suit. Regardless this is worth getting and playing, just be warned you can easily miss good stuff like mentioned before and end up fairly underpowered throughout the majority of this game (which happened to me).

My time was over 4hrs
Capacity: 54% (this came mainly from expansions and i explored pretty hard)
Cloned 2 times. (both were forced deaths)
Review:
Okay, gotta say its definitely veteran-level when it comes to exploration and secrets. Yet the beauty of it is it's kept surprisingly simple throughout from exploration and boss fights. But you get rewarded not just upgrades but the eye candy you get as you progress, especially with the boss fights.

Man, I definitely sunk lots of hours into it. 12 hours at 87.3% once I decided to finish up. The sheer exploration of it seems to really throw the items out of order past the first three so I guess that's what makes it rewarding when you find them.
Overall, 10/10.

fosskers

Totally fantastic hack. Amazing metroid experience with a great story!

I liked what I played, and I'll watch a video, but this isn't vanilla difficulty. It took me some time to figure out a running jump was actually a thing, and my hands don't work fast enough for a mid-air morphball.
It took me a dozen tries to get out of the Morph Ball room and I just quit in the bomb room.
It's cool that you make hacks for people who play hacks, and are probably pretty good at this, but I played this game mostly in the 90s, and even then I'd rather reset than do the wall jump tower again. While mid-air morph ball may be something you think anyone should be able to do, it's actually pretty advanced for a casual player.

In any case, it seems fun, I'll watch someone play it, but I just wanted to point out the entry on the download page says "vanilla" for difficulty, and it isn't. I'm glad you made it clear it was a required tech so early, though.

Sapphron

...you serious? Midair morph is the only "advanced tech" required in this game AT ALL, and it's very lenient when it is required. You jump and press down twice. It's not hard at all unless your hands literally don't work that fast for a different reason.

Yes.

QuoteIt's not hard at all unless your hands literally don't work that fast for a different reason.

Yes. I thought I made that clear.

It's like how the original game makes me guess the power bomb / super missile doors because they're the same if you're colorblind.

DonnyDonovan

It's unfortunate that you have physical issues that impact your ability to play, but you seem to somehow be downgrading D-man and the hack for that, which simply isn't fair.  He can make the hack however easy or hard he likes.  It's his hack.  From an exploration standpoint this certainly isn't vanilla difficulty.  From a "moves required" standpoint it's probably a little harder but close.  From a combat standpoint (boss health, etc.), it's vanilla or in some places maybe even a bit easier.  Perhaps you could set up some sort of keyboard cheat to help you midair morph in the few places it is needed.
