I entered Wrecked Ship and beat Phantoon before getting Hi Jump.  Am I softlocked?  If not, how should I escape the ship?

I assume the game isn't softlocked, but I still restarted since it was easier.  I have since reclaimed my progress and progressed further.  Alleluia!
