Unused sprites

Does anyone know why Crocomire was left it the ROM for Zero Mission and Skrees in fusion but no other unused enemies exist in the roms?

Other unused enemies exist. In fusion for example there are the wasp hives and gas clouds and platforms you get to control with the L button and dpad.

Zero mission saw a pruning during development that cut out pretty much all unused content from the game.

I forgot about the hives. Why did Nintendo keep them in the ROM though?

Fusion left in a lot of unused content, they may have just forgotten to prune it all.
