Thanks! It's a big project but I like to work on it little by little.  :^_^:

This is one of the best Metroid Fangames in a while, I have a few questions if you dont mind. My friends keep bothering me about this but si there any chance that water, gravity suit and plasma beam will be in the game some day and will Maridia be an upcoming area? Also will all of the areas have their own unique bosses at some point? I am not assuming that all of these will come out fast since I already read you work little by little which is great since everybody need breaks in between.

VacantShade

Thanks for the kind words!
Good questions. I hope we can see all of these eventually, though I don't have any definite plans on when/how they will be implemented. A lot of work still needs to be done on the engine side of things so that it can be as flexible and open to new content as I'd like in the future. So it will take a lot of planning and work to get there.  :^_^:

Dinar87

Hey my man  you still working on this?

Hello!
Progress is going well. The project hasn't gotten a new update yet, but it has been worked on regularly over the past year. I've been focusing a lot on the engine side of things, Loeder has completely redone the Samus animations, and Small Watch has been developing additional visual assets for the game. You can see both of their work here in this demonstration of the new missile doors:

There are also some new options coming to the Enigma generator, like allowing different map layouts and having starting items. So those will hopefully make Enigma more customizable and interesting!

It will probably still be a couple months before these changes are released and get moved to a stable version.

Eikon

Dang the new graphics and animation look amazing, really looking forward to the next update

Hey, it looks like the download links are disabled temporarily. Is it because of site traffic or is it intentional?

Games of any era are game!

VacantShade

Hello!
Yes, they are down due to high traffic volume. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Your best option would probably be checking on the Community run discord server (linked in first post), as I've been informed by Loeder (the current server owner) that there is an alternate download available there.

Have fun!

Saw Vinny check this out, have yet to grab it for myself but I wanted to know, is it possible to disable the clock timer above the minimap?

WiildFiire

I honestly don't see any issues getting this to work on a Steam Deck, given how easy AM2R goes. I'll have to report back if I run into any issues or quirks. If only you could share Steam Input layouts...

Thank you for all your hard work dev.

yeah, worked instantly.

Simply added the exe to steam, force use compatibility tool, proton 9.0-4.

Runs like an absolute dream, and since planets already has controller support, customizing controls will be incredibly easy.

Not currently. If you use the 16:9 resolution though, the HUD elements are placed on the borders outside the game area.

Yeah, I have heard that it isn't too difficult to get it running on that! Glad it worked for you!

dfuse

Is there any way of playing this on an Anbernic device, like AM2R?

VacantShade

Good question! I am not super familiar with that device, but from some conversations I've had with someone who is, it seems that Planets is not currently compatible with it. Unsure if that will change in the future.

Eikon

Since there's been talk of playing MPlanets on the go I thought I would chime in with this solution which so far I think is working perfectly. It's a GPD Win 1 device that's basically a mini Windows 10 PC so it will run most anything that's not super graphics intensive. There are newer models up to GPD Win 4 I think, but these cost around $1000, and every model after the Win 1 moved the dpad to where the left analog is on the original model which is not ideal. I also prefer the smaller screen and closer to 4:3 aspect ratio as opposed to something like a steam deck. I picked this one up used for around $250, anyway I highly recommend!

M. Planets looks amazing with its enhanced mechanics, new planets, and multiplayer. The white screen issue has been mentioned, any fixes for that? Excited to see how the Enigma generator evolves!

Thanks for your interest!
I haven't personally heard of the game having major graphical issues when running on windows. Could you share some details about the problem you are having?

Just messaging on here to ask if crouching or angled shots will ever be added for Enigma? (Like from Super Metroid)

VacantShade

That would be pretty cool!

As of now there are no plans for that. While I am interested in adding new content to Enigma from the more modern games, I also want the mechanics and control scheme to remain relatively simple, perhaps a half step between NEStroid and Super.

One challenge with Enigma is that the more base mechanics that are available to the player, means that room designers have to consider more and more things when designing rooms. I'm hoping that Enigma can strike a good balance between interesting gameplay for players and ease of room design for creators! ^_^

Fair enough! Definitely understand where you're coming from. I do hope that crouching atleast will be considered. It just tends to feel rather unintuitive/clunky when I can't just shoot at one block tall enemies coming at me and have to wait for them to crawl up or jump above them to shoot down.

Nonetheless, terrific job on this! I look forward to new features in Enigma mode. Creating rooms has been some of the most fun I've had in awhile.
