This question is for the creators who have made full projects. I just would like to hear where your inspiration came from.
I want to eventually create something that is unique and not just a half-hack so I'm hoping I might be able to get some ideas here that could inspire and motivate me to put out a decent contribution to this community.

Thanks in advance for your time. :^_^:

MetroidSR388, am2r were big inspirations for me cuz i was ripping them off lol.
I think, inspiration can come from everywhere, a lot of the time when I needed an idea for a setting or an enemy for pixeltroid i just thought about stuff i see in real life.
A lot of my inspiration does from work that isn't completed yet, i love seeing how things evolve over time. I think there's a lot to be learned from that.

For my projects influences came from horror films I kept watching circa summer 2011, who widely influenced me to create Darkholme Hospital. Digital Cube was also the concept of the Cube movie trilogy transposed into a hack, visuals were widely influenced by Cube Zero/Cube3.

As weird as it can sound dreams can be an inspiration, it often happened that I dreamt about some abstract rooms or seeing patterns that I could exploit after.

I get a lot of inspiration from the other games I played, and I try to incorporate the best elements of each game all into one. If there's an element I particularly enjoy, I'll try to take it and incorporate it somewhere else in a new way. Always keep an eye out for your favorite parts of games and see how you can use them too.
