Hello.

I've been trying to understand how to add Chozo Guardians in my hack. Drewseph told me I'd need to write ASM for the chozo statues and modify them, but It's kinda complicated to me because I didn't study computer science. I'd like to know if there's a way to make it with Smile Editor 2.5 in an easier way. And I wonder if I could put the message: "Guardian disable, access granted" - or something like that. I also gotta mention that those chozos are not allowed in some rooms (Tourian's access for an example), then my game crashes when I try to use them.

I know it's hard to ask, but I'd appreciate any help.

Ps: There's a file attached of what I'd like to do in my hack.

Thx, guys!

I guess, the first question to ask, how familiar are you with SMILE? For one, 2.5 is hardly used these days, most people either use:

Next, someone would have to be kind enough to write it for you, seeing as you are unable to do so yourself. I thought drew was gonna release all his code at some point, but if you talked to him recently about this, and he didn't offer to give it to you directly well.... I guess I was mistaken. As for how to use it in smile, you'd have to talk directly to the person who wrote the code on how to use it.

I don't know how adverse drew is to people ripping the code from redesign, he used to be very /very/ aggressive about anyone using things from redesign, but I thought that he had simmered down on that when he released axiel. If he was cool with it, you could alternatively just grab the code straight from a redesign rom (if you know where to look).

All in all, I think that you are shit out of luck fam. If drew won't give it to you, I doubt very seriously anyone is gonna write you any code unless you prove yourself and have a high quality project in full swing. We can't just write code for every joe schmo who comes in asking for handouts, you can understand I hope.

So, you can either try talking to drew again, learn how to code it yourself, or wait a while and come back to ask when you got some cool stuff to showoff.

Also, lel pdf pics...

inb4 someone has the code just lying around and proves me wrong by posting it for you

Thanks a lot for your answer. I didnt know that it would be a secret, cuz that code was used on Hyper Metroid hack. A long long time ago, I had asked to Drew if I could use something from Redesign like palletes, GFX... He answered: "Sure, as long as you credit me".

Well, thx. I am gonna try to study more programming.

I downloaded the version 2.83 and I didn't see a lot of change. Actually, I think version 2.5 is still more stable. I'm almost giving up to make my own SM Hack, because it requires a lot of programming if you want to make something really good, like adding those guardians which I think it's an awesome feature. It's my dream to make something like that in my hack. :pale:

You do not need alot of programming to do a good hack. Repointing level data is one of the thing you should know, and that's not hard. If you really want guardians thing you can make color doors share the same index as a grey one so by opening a colored door it will open grey one, that shares the same index.   Also if you are not ready to learn new stuff then you will probably lose motivation anyways pretty quick.

Thanks, Retroo. I'll try to learn how to make it. Thanks for the tip as well.

See ya.
