ok, i dont know what im gonna do with the save room yet. ill deal with that later.  the black tiles, are you saying theres still some left or theyre all still there, cause i went through that area and thought i cleaned it all up.  screehshot it if you can

Made it past where I was permastuck, I can tell you that room's mostly black tiles on the background. I figured out what was up with the red and black stripes for the Wrecked Ship, it's something to do with the states because after killing Phantoon, they were replaced by normal tiles, which is good. The Norfair save room next to the bubble chamber is still funky, however, the tunnel entrance to the Lower Norfair is indeed cleaned up. You did well with the cleanup overall, just a couple persistent spots. I'm sure the others on this forum can help you deal with those areas.

I'll go back and screenshot any black tile spots when I can.

As promised, I've managed to screenshot where the persistent black tiles are. Dropbox doesn't like to do image inserts, so I have no choice but to do a list of links, my apologies. Whew, helluva list, eh? Found a couple more funky save rooms, one next to the elevator to Lower Norfair, the last one in Tourian, and the one on your way to Ridley's room. There might be one I forgot somewhere. Ridley was disappointingly underpowered, but that was probably to account for the lack of Gravity Suit and enough energy tanks. Could not find Spore Spawn in Maridia, but I suppose that has yet to be implemented. Managed to get 98% items, was missing the last energy tank. This is a pretty decent half-hack IMO, the beam progression was a little weird. You might want to either block off the shaft where you normally fall through to get your first Super Missile in vanilla or take it out, your call. Keep up the good work, just needs cleaning up, that's all.

Gave this a playthrough:

Pros:  Interesting item sequence, very open-ended feel, I like some of the color palettes, generally a pretty fun hack.  I thought Norfair was the strongest area and it had some nice nods to M1. 

Cons:   Very, very half-hacky (if that) in places.   There were some rooms and areas that, frankly, felt kinda phoned in.  Extremely easy in places depending on how one plays, overall I thought it felt too easy, and I dislike really hard hacks.   Gold Torizo was my hardest battle as I only had four or so tanks and Varia at that point and he hits hard.  Even Ridley was easy due to the staggering number of supers you get in this game.

Got 86% in about 2 hours.  Never found spore spawn and never found grapple.   Never felt I needed grapple at any point. 

Overall verdict -- Good base to build from but it would need a lot of polish and upgrading before I'd be inclined to replay it.

I played it until I reached norfair.
The issues I found already got mentioned such a the garbled save rooms.
However what turned me down is that some rooms dont feel finished. Like they have 2-3 different tiles repeated all over them.
I think you should go in each of em and polish the visual. The level design is pretty good tho.
I think this is good for a first hack.
