Metroid Fusion - A Lesson In Evolution [WIP]

A lesson in evolution begins with Samus and Adam receiving a distress call from a fragment of SR388. After investigating, they find a duplicate of the BSL lab. But the Federation has never reported it. Soon after investigating, disaster and oddities were uncovered.


Is it A LIE?
Is it ALIEN?
What is A lesson in evolution?

Samus will have to discover what horrors, and intrigue await her on the journey.

The mod/hack will be loosely event based, it will feature enemies from Zero Mission, and familiar Super Metroid enviroments, and a special AI.

Map is done minus 1 room, currently working on events boss programming.
Release is looking like mid 2022.

Some very obvious bugs, but this has me excited.

Yeah! A lot to fix, I have over a hundred open issues on my github I need to take care of. Gonna take it nice and slow. Next thing I need to work on is a sprite converter from ZM to MF :/

I have most of the logic down, copying the AI and such. The biggest issue will be copying the sprite positioning and proper tile tables :/ But with that I'm fleshing the intro out more and starting work on the Main Deck and the Zebes deck. Hoping for another video in April. Will be updating with WIP videos here and the screenshot thread.

Do you plan to make a sprite converter from fusion-to-ZM as well, perhaps further into the future?

It should be able to handle it.  I had a small success porting the Metroid from ZM over but I failed on the OAM frames. But I understand how to extract them now, the tables just end at 0x7FFF. There might be some other work I need to do but the process should be repetitively simple. Hardest part is the unknown variables between the two titles.

Bumping, will need a tester by end of the year. Done on backend work for the moment, need to map out a few areas. Finally got free time again!

That is really big knockback from omega metroid.

That's just vanilla knockback from the Omega in fusion. Probably should be lessened a bit.

Yeah, there's going to be some changes specific to ALIE. Less knockback, faster movement, damageable chest.

Rooms are in progress,
After the Metroid AI has finished porting I have about 6 more AIs to work on. Then once rooms are done, I'll get the rest of the hack together. Then testing!

Decided against mecha motherbrain, the included motherbrain fight will be great.

I was going to port ZMs ridley over, but just gonna use regular ridley palette on ridley x.


Timeline for progression is looking fine. After all these AI's are finished I can get back to physics, then start wrapping everything together!
