It's offical guys, Dropbox broke all the things, now everything you ever linked using the Public Folder has broken links! This means almost anything I ever linked is now broken, because I sure as hell am not going through every single post I ever made and changing the links to the new format.

I did feel assed enough to fix my signature tho, that one is really important.

They gave plenty of warning, people have known it was coming for months, but man, it still sucks.

ugh, now I've got to go fix shit on god knows how many websites

Yeah, it's been looming for ages, and there's no workaround with them. It's part of the reason I contacted imgur about unblocking MetConst. I doubt I'll be fixing any of my links either. I just feel sorry for people who have built entire sites or businesses around that facility.

ermagerd so mad

It sucks, but I never saw Dropbox as a long-term hosting solution. Pretty standard business model on the internet: give cool things away for free until you have a big enough userbase to monetize, then lose the dead weight.

For the moment, it looks like changing the "www" to "dl" turns Dropbox urls into direct file links, but I'm sure they'll fix that sooner or later.

That's at least a small respite for content, but I was actually referring to the whole Public folder thing in general, which is not receiving any replacement. They've clearly said they're more focused on the shared documents rather than any form of hosting service, which, as you say, is fair enough.
