I've been wanting to make a Super Metroid Hack for a while now. I decided I should try my hand at SMILE. I always get the following whenever I try opening it:

"Run-time error '53':

File not found"

Can I get help with this? My computer runs on Ubuntu, if you're gonna ask.

As a fellow Ubuntu user, I have some bad news for you.

Most versions of SMILE don't work in wine, and the ones that do tend to have issues.  Plus some of the other common hacking tools like xkas aren't available / work differently on Linux.  If you intend to do any serious SM hacking, you really need a Windows PC or a virtual machine, unfortunately.  If you still want to try it, this might help?

ftfy ;)

Also, iirc xkas actually does work on ubuntu through wine, but it's one of the only hacking tools around right now (right now) that works properly through wine.
