Does anyone know if there are plans to create a new classic-style Metroid game in the relatively near future? I just finished Super Metroid and I am playing through AM2R and Zero Mission, and I'm looking for what to play next. (I tried Fusion a bit, and was annoyed with the lack of exploration involved and the constant mandatory cutscenes or instructions.) Also, I'm looking to try some hacks or fangames, especially if they are of exceptional quality and similar in style to the originals.

For Super Metroid hacks, I'll direct you to the last thread, which also links to the one before it. Many hacks are mentioned numerous times, and all are worth a shot. :^_^:

Zero One

There's also Axiom Verge on Steam and a few consoles, which is both excellent, and very Metroid-like.

A Dummy

Have you tried Project Base yet?
That one might as well be a remake of Super Metroid with the expanded maps and all the extra connecting paths everywhere.

Mayo-chan

Axiom Verge is kinda meh, I'd rather go for Environmental Station Alpha, which hits the tone extremely well.
