The best part about this was the trollish stealth announcement during the Nintendo World Championships the other day.

That or the silly amounts of apoplectic nerd rage surrounding this.

FINALLY something metroid!
i don't mind the sports thing, and i'm glad they are releasing something metroid related without everyone being samus at the same time. (ala- MP2 multiplayer) I just hope they won't be releasing a shit tonne of DLC maps for the campaign or anything cheap like they have been doing with all 3DS titles basically.

It looks like a Nintendo team made up the concept for a new game, pitched it to the higher ups and decided the only way it would sell is if they branded it with Metroid. Look at the textures on the video's thumbnail, they clearly weren't ready to show this to the public yet.

I sure am glad at least somewhere there is a place I can hide from all the negativity.

I kinda feel bad for all the hate this game has been getting. Hopefully It looks better towards release.

I think that's part of what people are grumbling about. If they want to make some game like this, there's no issue with it, but why slap the name 'Metroid' on it, and alienate fans, since they want an actual Metroid game?

One thing is for certain: the guys playing the game at the tree house had absolutely no idea what they were doing. I mean just look! They are barely co-operating with each other and throwing insults at each other. Definitely NOT the way to present the next Metroid game.

With hacks like Hyper Metroid and Project Base and fangames like AM2R, I've been pretty satisfied with the series for awhile. You could really say that its the fans that have been keeping the series alive.

For example. Samus get caught by Space Pirates. They locked her in ball form and play volleyball using her as a ball.

Metroid isn't really popular in Japan, and that's really the fanbase that nintendo aims to cater. This is why there's a new pokemon game every 6 months and a shitload of those special pokemon events are japanese exclusive every day.
Nintendo has realized that when you play favorites, you make money.
Now you guys just need to realize that you (metroid fans) are a minority in their eyes.

Everyone's acting like Nintendo did some great disservice to the metroid series by making some half-baked title that's guaranteed to suck. Are you serious? Metroid died 5 years ago. It was called Other M.

This is why we take Metroid in to our own hands.
And, why are you waiting around for this big fatcat shitty corporation to make some dated formula with shiny new paint type game you can pay money for and feel disappointed for buying? This is like disrespect to those of us who spend shitloads of hours making new metroid levels, codes, designs, and graphics for you to play. Fuck you.
