That's the Lower Norfair room he mentionned in his last post, he didn't change version number but fixed it so just download it again :)

For screw attack :
Bomb in that order 5 3 4 2 1, i'm not sure about hints or anything maybe something about timers i got it trying randomly on 1st playthrough pretty fast was pure luck.
That said good luck with your 100%

Daltone

finally got the EPB quest going lol
It took me awhile before i understood the tripwires, first i thought i had to pass through them with damage boosts or invincibility flash goin on lol. I'm surprised i never got a high damage boost during my first playthrough, though i remember thinking that you just disabled boosting off enemies but i think i was trying at the peak of the jump rather then this way.
Im at the entrance to norfair so far, really neat so far, takes a few tries in these rooms w/ lots of waiting for enemies to crawl around the rooms again, its fun trying to figure out what i can bounce off of.
Playing this on my snes via powerpak, 1.3 this time, the % counter in the menu does not work, it just says zero im sure that i have more then that so far, i diddnt even put a header on it (surprised it works since most expanded hack wont boot up without one on it) or mess with the speed of the morph ball this time.
morph ball is much better now, could still be faster though.

Drewseph

JAM made the % code for the inventory, so I'm not sure how he wrote it.  I'll ask him and see if he can find a fix for console.

Ugh as for fixes, I decided to make a much needed tweak to metroids.  They will eventually detatch when you enter acid. and you'll have a longer window to defeat all 3 metroids outside the feeding pit.

Hiroshi Mishima

Feeding pit? Do you mean the sandy areas? If so, that's actually a clever way of looking at that... here a friend and I were thinking those were intended to be heated or arid areas and that's why the Metroids were unfreezing faster. :p

Also:
I really liked those morph ball tracks you used throughout Tourian. Not only did they look great, but were neat to navigate. I found the concept of Tourian being in a constant state of lockdown and Samus having to go around and destroy security measure to be pretty cool.[/spoilers]

Drewseph

AWESOME IDEA!  done and done!  they are heated now.

LReyomeXX

Eppy found a similar glitch to what MetroidPeter found on his playthrough, had to reload a hard save

Hiroshi Mishima

It makes me strangely happy to know I've impacted this hack in some small way. :D

Drewseph

Boo, Sad news, the warping BG effect doesn't work well with the BG tiles, it makes them look like they are moving up instead or rippling in-heat.  also the heat glow doesn't work in tourian :(

Unless drew's updated screw attack puzzle again, there's no point telling us the combination to the puzzle. It's random every time, leaving 120 possible combinations to get screw attack

MetroidPeter

You mean I have to keep guessing until I eventually get it?! That's gonna take hours!

Quietus

No, there is a technique.  If you check previous pages in this thread, it has been discussed before, and is a timing puzzle.  It shouldn't take you more than a few minutes to solve with the hints given here.

You're thinking of pre 1.2. Once you hit all 5 switches, the puzzle tells you whether you put the right combination in or not (and you have no way of knowing if you're getting somewhere). So assuming you start from 12345 to 54321, you're going to be the best of 20-30 minutes getting screw attack.

Quietus

Seriously? :whoa:

I may stick with my v1.0.

Drewseph

It has always been a timed puzzle.  The order is random.  The only problem in pre 1.2 is that i added a buzzing to show the incorrect input.  If you got it wrong before Then it shortened the timers on the activated light for each wrong switch you activated.   Time each light for the order to hit from longest to shortest.

MetroidPeter

I got it, but now for another dilemma of stupidity on my part...

This missile expansion is making me question all my life decisions.

I just can't find a way to get this item, and I've tried everything.

I've tried using save-states and slowdown, along with some clever bomb jumping, but I just can't cross this gap.

Is this the way to do it? If it is, I haven't been able to, as the second ledge is too far.

Is there something over here? I've tried dropping lots of bombs, and I even used some power bombs, but to no avail.

I know I'm making myself look really dumb by asking for help on the forums AGAIN, but even if I get a really good time on this (which I probably won't) I am not going to be satisfied unless I get 100% items. If anyone is feeling generous, please reply.

Drewseph

That last one is a tile error, thanks!

That gap can be crossed with a single bomb.

Scooterboot9697

So, after finally beating this, I decided to start the Early Power Bomb challenge.
However, I'm a bit confused as to what to do at the moment. I'm at the part where I can choose to do the Hell's Run or the water puzzle and maze. Turns out I can't get through the maze without bombs, and I can't do Hell's Run on a single energy tank (not to mention that the room to the right of the elevator in Norfair is impossible to get through without normal bombs). What do? :O_o:

Edit: To be clear I want to know how to get to Kraid and get Varia.

I can't do Hell's Run on a single energy tank
It all depends on where you got your first E-tank.

Also I updated the patch again.  changes are:

1.4
- Metorid AI fixes all around
- Metroids outside feeding pit no longer dodge
- Fixed an issue where rolling into a bomb didn't register.  now it does resulting in easier detach of Metroids.
- Metroids detatch when you fall into acid.
- Increased the time delay for a re-spawning metorid when outside the feeding pit
This gives you extra time to kill 3 metroids in the room
- Fixed a bug where the screen shakes when landing.

This may have introduced more bugs.  PM me and let me know.  Load from a hard save as always.

I got my first E-Tank here:

(The red shutter was already open. I assume this was intended for EPB mode?)

The real problem is I don't seem to have access to any E-Tanks that I already know of. I'm half tempted to just use an infinite health cheat to get through it. :bounce:

Drewseph

Scooterboot9697: you have access to one more tank.  you can do it!

MetroidPete: CONGRATULATIONS!  I hope you had fun playing! Now you should Rate and Review it. http://beta.metroidconstruction.com/hack.php?id=205

Fuck this shit, I could barely make it through it with 3, now you say I can only make it through with 2?
:metroid:

Drewseph

This is the EPB challenge, how about you try it?
HINT:
The enemies in Hells Run all drop big health all the time.  and EPB has scripted to have more enemies en route to refill
Huh. I suppose that makes it easier.
(Although, I still have no idea as to where to get the other E-tank, unless it's right under my nose.)

Drewseph

its right under your nose.  just go refill your energy and ammo, and then explore.
