I guess I'll do the item indexing later tonight.

Protip: they didn't get a chance to beta test. He just kind of released this.

Vismund Cygnus

Can a mod or something move this thread from the completed section? Seeing as it's clearly not completed, or even completeable, it kind of detracts from the board.
That said I'm glad there are people willing to take this project under their wings and see it released properly.

Ah... I see. So, the author should be instead.

Vismund Cygnus
Version 1.0 (if anyone have it) should be archived to show what completed hacks should not be. Also, there is already topic about this hack in Super Metroid board. So, I'd merge both topics there.

Why should it crash? It's a bit for Torizo in this area. If there are 2 or more doors with SAME index, yes, it'll crash.

And this room WILL crash as soon as you start X-Ray scoping.

Thank you Grime and Windowhead and whoever else for taking the time to work on this porject so that we may have a chance to play it.

Aerezoloh

After I done away with Ridley, got the Gravity suit and decided I'd make my way back to Warlus, I decided I'd take a bit of a shortcut. Unfortunately as I moved into the next room, this oddity happened were Samus ended up stuck as if she were still in the room below.

This is one of those bugs that you can actually get out of, I played around with the concept and found myself in the same position, I just built up a spark and aligned myself up with the speedblocks and got back inbounds. This happened due to my curiosity of a section of the right side of the shaft heading back up to the room in question. Turns out it was just aesthetics.

Well then yes, both his grey doors have the same index.

X-Ray is not obtainable in this hack, afaik and according to Jefe.

Digital_Mantra

Did you implement the changes I discussed Jefe?
Also your beta tester list is rather lacking, I've poured days into it, Grime likely as well.
Others have even denied being part of the process.

Cmon man, we're near the finish line, hustle up and update us proper.

SpoOkyMagician

Still holding up on this. I hope the bugs gets fixed. I really wanted to try it.

Jiffy

Right now I'm awaiting Grime to tell me if he's working on fixing Phantoon or not. (Or anything else for that matter.) If he is, then I'm gonna hold up until the next version, then fix bugs. (Unless Grime is in the process of doing already.)

begrimed

I've fixed that shinespark door area, and a shitload of other little things (haven't done the item/door indexes yet though, lol, but I've got all the info copied). There will be no Phantoon in this, because he softlocks the game if you use spazer/plasma to kill him, and screw trying to fix that. Instead I rearranged the final area's rooms so that its path takes you through all 3 of the metroid rooms, then to the room that triggers the escape. Sorry for no climactic final fight. Someone else can work that in if they're so inclined, just connect it to room 7DE4D.

What changes did you discuss with jefe, WindowHead?

I'm putting more time than I expected to into this, but it'll be pretty legit. Any bugs I can't fix on my own will be clearly noted, at least. For instance, why the hell does Minstraine's map not scroll up or down?

Edit: oh yeah, I couldn't seem to make Golden Torizo crash, so maybe I fixed it by fixing something else? Guess we'll find out.

I may have overlooked something, sorta rushed through this.

Just a few fixes, wouldn't take you more then a few minutes if you've got the most currently fixed copy.

begrimed

Ohhh, alright. Didn't know if you'd send him a PM with a bunch of suggested tweaks or something that I wasn't aware of. Most of the fixes remaining are just misaligned map icons, that broken Minstraine map, and those item/door indexes. Anything after that is polish, and maybe a few permastucks that can happen from sequence breaking.

piush

I have played this 1.5 version. Am down in Norfair after the Ridley fight. I need to improve my grappling skills but made it. I am really impressed with the level layout in this hack.

piush

and thank you Grime and Windowhead for fixing this hack.

So far I have entered unknown area with this progress.

I did find this door that causes a crash when you enter.

I also found doors in Kraid room are blackened out but work other than this it is playable somewhat.

I also discovered that during escape sequence you fall back down near your ship. game does not end and escape sequence is cancelled. I know this is not done so I am just passing along stuff i found.

JAM

Grime
So why the Phantoon is glitching? Is there my Spazer / Plasma patch applied? If so, the newer version (0.995) should be applied. Phantoon was fixed there.

Also, I can make him activate the escape timer. So, no need to use the 7DE4D rooms and such.

begrimed

#70
Not sure which version jefe applied, but it's because of spazer/plasma, yeah. I'll try patching on a newer one later and see how that goes. How easy is it to make him set the escape? I'm almost finished with this, so if it's gonna be hard to set up, I won't bother with it.

Right now, this is my nightmare, and the only thing holding me back from being able to finish. No idea why I can't make the map scroll down. Item indexes are done, and a lot of other touch-ups and fixes have been made.

EDIT: HOLD UP, MetroidMst & DSO pointed me in the right direction of a fix, so the map issue is fine now.

ARRIVAL-FIXT 0.2 IPS

FIXES DONE:

-All item and door indexes
-All map icons and save station coordinates
-A bunch of camera snaps and small structural crap
-New fx1 pointers given to a bunch of rooms to spice up aesthetics a tad
-More enemies added to some rooms, unused enemies put to better use in some spots
-Certain palettes adjusted (some title stuff, missile explosions, suits and Spore Spawn mainly)
-Bomb Torizo and Golden Torizo fights.
-Added a new super missile tank to a give purpose to a dead-end room in Minstraine
-Final area mostly reworked, and the game can now be beaten, woo!
-Suitless underwater physics
-Up/Down scrollers set higher for most rooms to reduce camera hang

-Kraid fight
-Botwoon fight
-Instances of palette 0000 in the enemies allowed list changed to 0001 (this fixes enemies missing their hurt flash and ammo pick-ups from enemies blinking ugly colors)
-Morphlock ASM applied for sloped morph tunnels
-Flickering lava tilemap
-Some unfair enemy placements (still in the process)
-Countless slope/BTS errors and permastucks.
-Grapple releases into spinjump pose
-Items play sound clips instead of silence or fanfare; major upgrades = plasma SBA sound, ammo expansions = click.
-Buggy backflip code remnants removed, hold down to skip bomb jumping added.

FIXES NEEDED:

-Pausing in Draygon's room during the fight will give you a black screen. NOT A CRASH. You can unpause just fine if you do this. Stops happening after you kill Draygon and leave the room.

-While taking off in Samus' ship at the end of the game, the underside of her ship will look yellowish and glitched up. This is simply because the ship uses a different set of graphics for the underside while taking off that weren't also edited, and I didn't realize it until after making this patch. Easy fix.

-It's always possible I missed something, or broke something else that I haven't noticed yet, but assuming that no major breaks are found that are easy to fix, I'm done workin' on this hack now. Enjoy!

piush

Good work Grime. only thing I noticed was that the door to the right of the elevator to final area takes you back to the map station in lower Kolprutz.

begrimed

Ahahah, whoops, piush. I forgot to remove that door. I moved that map room to another spot so Samus wouldn't find it so late in the game. I'll make a patch that fixes it later. Gonna let people play it for a bit and see if any other mistakes pile up.

Jiffy

Thanks for all your hard work, Grime. I really appreciate it. :^_^:
Also, added the patch to the first post. Nevermind, it's already on there.
