I think it would work better if you had some visible rock formations above Samus on the way through, then have those same rock formations be what 'falls' afterward.  It'd probably portray the cave-in more than random blocks appearing. :^_^:

So far I haven't put it into the actual hack yet (as this is just a concept). It would need to be less overlooked like the concept to look decent in game.

Nice Work, ship looks amazing. i just wonder how youve done that event with the rocks.

Pretty simple actually, just use Room States OR do Separate Rooms.

Pretty basic stuff you're showing there, but I'm liking the palette. What I'm not liking/use to is seeing an elevator float with nothing under it.

Yeah, the elevator did look a bit weird, and it doesn't seem to do anything but break flow.

On topic, I'm a but lazy to pick apart and make an extensive explanation of your tileset there so I'll simply say: I like it and it looks good and what you've built is pretty snazzy.
