Hi, I'm back... Here my new finished hack... Hope you like!https://www.dropbox.com/s/kqwdljt4dppmtk3/map2.bmp

THE STORY :

The galactic federation possesses on planet HYDELLIUS a great scientific research station.

The best scientists of the galaxy works in this station and their last discovery was astounding!

They have created a serum that enables creatures to be invincible! This finding is kept secret because all tests have not been done yet....But...since four days now, the station is mute...

Samus Aran, the famous galactic detective is called for a high importance and confidential mission : go to HYDELLIUS to find the reasons of this silence and get the serum back before it fall in bad hands!

THE HACK :

New planet with new enemies, backgrounds, areas.....more and more - you must know wall-jumping and all the basic moves but it's not hard! - new doors called "twin doors" (cause they work by 2) look like small colored tower with door on top.. Must open the hidden one to free the one that blocks your path! Blue door free blue door, and each area has blue, red, yellow, and green "twin doors". They are mentioned on the map with letters (B for blue...)

THE PLANET MAP :

PICS :

Thanks to RED MONKEY for the ship and the doors tiles he allows to use - I found them to cool for let them unused!!!

thanks for all who help me, for their advice, and game tests...

I've only played a little bit so I can't comment on the hack too much other than I'm enjoying it so far but I did want to bring a bug to your attenion:

The red undersides of these platforms act like doorcaps when shot.  I've only seen it happen in the landing site so far.

These physics are going to take some getting used to.

craighypheno

Looks great from what I can see, will give it a play later!  :yay:

No... there, if you jump quickly, you can get out!

While I have been having a good time with exploring and looking for the next important upgrade, I thought I would take the time to inform you of a permastuck or two I have found thus far to bring to your attention.
This is where players get stuck before they even get Morph Ball.

Ended up stuck here, and couldn't do anything to get unstuck.
TROM

OK.... thanks....  that's cleared!

If you see other things like those... Please tell me!

otherwise....what do you think about  enemies and backgrounds ?

Quietus

Permastucks are why I always use ZSNES.  The rewind feature has saved me no end of times. :^_^:

Did you know there are versions of snes9x with rewind support?

I quite like the graphics, except for a few little things, e.g. in this background:

Why are parts of the skyscrapers brown?

By the way have you considered lowering the amount of damage spikes do? For the longest time I had no E-Tanks and losing 2/3 of your energy for jumping off platforms into spikes you can't see is not fun.

EDIT: Are these spikes (area to the right of Samus' ship) supposed to be harmless?

EDIT 2: Red Pirates suck  15 charged shots to kill them and 85 damage if you get hit? Seems a little excessive. At least they die to a single super missile..

EDIT 3: Found more non-working spikes:

Oh, and as you can see, standing on that blue enemy thing while it's moving lets you go through solid walls.

EDIT 4: Why is this an air block?

EDIT 5: Ugh. Not only are these floating things nearly impossible to avoid, they deal waaaay too much damage (138!). And normal beam shots don't even damage them...

EDIT 6: I think I might be permastuck in the same room as the screenshot above. After collecting the super missile underneath the Oum I fell down some crumble blocks into this pit.

I don't have Ice or Gravity so I can't climb back up and the door on the right leads to a yellow/orange twin door, which I can't do anything about. I've bombed pretty much every accessible tile with no results. Maybe I'm not supposed to be here yet?

TROM

edit: yes, it's normal that those pikes don't hurt!

edit 2 : normal! be patient!

edit 3 : all normal

edit 4 : that's air block for the "crab"'s lair!

edit 5 6 : ???? dont understand how you get there without gravity suit ????....normally, this room could only be reached AFTER getting the gravity suit.....

TROM

more question.... how did you get the grappling without ice beam????

and where did you catch super missile ????

You seem to be a hard-good-fucking player !!!!!!  My game is too easy for you!

FPzero

You can get an early super missile in picture 2's room by pulling off a very well timed wall jump into the upper left corner.  I did so but didn't collect the item for fear that I would go and get myself stuck later on.

I didn't, and it's a shame it's not included in the official builds, as I'd probably switch over, since it's much better for recording. :^_^:

Pretty much this. I thought perhaps since you said "you must know wall-jumping" in your OP that might have been the intended way to get super missiles.. I guess that is not the case . My current items are Morph, Bombs, Hi-Jump, Charge, Missiles, Supers, Power Bombs and Grapple. What else am I missing apart from Ice and Gravity?

EDIT: You can fall through the right side of this door I'm standing on:

EDIT 2: The beam doesn't hit these enemies if you shoot standing right next to the thing they spawn from (does this happen in regular SM as well?)

FPzero

You should go for Ice Beam next to try and get back on track.  From Crocomire's room, go towards Lower Norfair's entrance and follow whatever path does not have you opening Super Missile doors.

Alternately,
It's located in the room in Norfair that houses refill enemies in the original game.
But what if I don't want to get back on track? :heheh:

Also, what do I do with this thing?

Power Bombs have no effect and it's just a regular dot on the minimap.

EDIT: Another permastuck :lol::

EDIT 2: Why isn't this a solid block?

EDIT 3: Standing directly above this pirate in the glass tube hurts you (I thought it was an invisible spike or something at first, but the range changes when he turns around.. either way, it's very weird).

DonnyDonovan

It sounds like this has some potential but needs a pretty substantial update of tweaks and fixes.

I'm going crazy trying to figure out how to get into the left section of maridia that would usually have the turtles and the missile shinespark.  I'm assuming old Spazer's location is part of this but I'm I can't figure out how to get there either.

Edit:

I just found that and since I have X-Ray I solved it.  The bottom block there is a grapple crumble tile and the doorcap is actually a super missile.  I don't remember where I found X-Ray but I know that I found it before i got speed booster.  I think I was in the Sand Cliff but I can't be certain.

Thanks.. I never would have figured that out on my own. Not that it helped me much, as the door it unlocks leads to a room full of pain, suffering, invincible enemies and locked doors.

This should probably be a solid block:

As should this (don't roll into this thing in morph ball form, you will get permastuck):

TROM

normal if you haven't the screw attack!!!!

tell me how you succeed to open the twin door that lead to that room WITHOUT screw attack!!  Normally it's blocked by a metal door that open only if you kill the 2 enemies with SCREW ATTACK!!!

Shinespark echoes. Also, is this a troll room?

Yes, I am aware of the horizontal tube at the bottom of the room, but it doesn't seem to lead anywhere. X-ray doesn't show any hidden passages or items either.

Jiffy

Didn't know where to go after getting Morphball...
It was an alright hack though, overall 4/10.

There was an item there when I found it.  I'm guessing it shares an ID with another pickup that you already found.

And if I'm not supposed to open that door without screw attack then I have no clue where I'm supposed to be going at this point.  Your hack needs more obvious directions and progression because I've spent three hours after getting speed booster looking for the next path or item only to find that door I'm not supposed to be able to open yet.
