Can anybody help or point me in the direction of a good Tile Layer Pro tutorial?

THE Purple Helmet

I am trying to do 2 things:

1. I want to change the ship into the fusion ship using herald83s gfx file for it in this topic
http://forum.metroidconstruction.com/index.php/topic,1770.msg21079.html#msg21079

2. I downloaded Crashtour99s patch that makes 1 unused tile function as a screw attack block and I want to add the screw attack block graphic into graphics set 3

Unfortunately, I am missing something in TLP. I can load a copy of my hack but I have no clue how to find any specific tile and I dont even know how to load or import gfx files or how I should even be going about that. Any help would be appreciated!

edit: I downloaded Crys's gfx patch but my ship piece is in the wrong shape. After looking into it, it seems that changing the ship is more than just altering graphics and i think everything involved may be beyond my capabilities.

Start with Vismund's recent post.
Then watch Shadow's videos here (under TLP).

Once you've done that, you'll have a much better understanding of how to get graphics, edit them, and get them back into the game.  If you're still stuck afterward, then feel free to come back and ask questions. :^_^:

Thanks  :^_^:  that clears up most questions about TLP for me

Could you also please help me learn how to find a specific tile? In Crashtour99's screw attack block patch it says:

Screw attack blocks
They use crumble blocks with BTS of $08
The tile displayed is $BF in the CRE (right below super missile blocks).
I didn't include any graphics so you can make the tile look however you want.

I have the patch and have verified it functions properly but how on earth do I find the right xx block to change to my ripped GFX?

Quietus

You don't find the correct XX block.  You export the CRE graphics, and edit in your new tile, replacing whatever you think you won't need / use.  You then import it back into SMILE.  Once you've done that, you then replace the XX block below the Super Missile block in the CRE with the tiles you created, and then save it.  Shadow does it in his video [noembed]here[/noembed]. :^_^:

Since you're using TLP, I'll chime in and say that you should apply this patch directly to the tlp.exe if you haven't already. This makes it so the program stops reading everything you open in it as having a header and is the cause of the top row of tiles in a graphic sheet not displaying.

Happy hacking. :^_^:
