FullOfFail

Hi.

So, I've finished this.
Let me know if there's any permastucks/errors and I'll fix it asap.
Good luck.

Note: This hack requires savestates, you can't die. It has a bug I never figured out how to fix.

Also, made this generic pic just to let potential players to know what it's about.

well, first things first, i love the background in the landing site. a lot.
i pressed start, though, and when i returned to the game, samus was wearing the varia suit colors.
regardless, im excited for this.

question, when you say, "savestates are required," is that as a result of difficulty or because there are no save stations?

I can answer that for you!
This is very very very hard. and if you die, you can't restart. I haven't found any saves yet.

Anyway, your tiling is great FullofFail. And the difficulty is very much like Megaman which is also good. The not being able to respawn is a bit of a pain. I'd like to see a non-TAS run of this!

Daltone

lol you could have at least made them air spikes so they have smaller hitboxes, this isnt even worth attempting real time.

also hate hate hate for making a challenge hack lol

Quietus

I gave it a go, but I finally gave in when I reached
the Golden Torizo fight.  Ice, spikes, and treadmills was just daft.
FullOfFail

Quietus, if you made it that far, you might want to give him another go then. He's actually not that hard, just gotta take advantage of his patterns. I decreased his HP, too.

Digital_Mantra

I will play this if you create a patch where theres no ship death glitch, and you have savestations at the end of every tasking challenge (in moderation).
I went from console to emu/keyboard in 06 and for the past year I've been doing things console condition again getting reacquainted with my controller.
So yeah, I only play stuff I can beat now.

I know some of us ushered in that age of tool assisted savestate hacks, but I think it died a long time ago and I would really love to play this under terms
where I know I can beat it, room for room.

FullOfFail

I would love to do that Dman, and I originally intended to make it like that, but I just don't have the know-how to fix the bug. I really don't mind if people don't like, or want to play this. It really doesnt reflect the kinds of things I'd personally want as a player, but that's kind of it's charm. It's intentionally bad, and over the top. Most of the obstacles in this hack, are things that I despise in regular hacks.

Digital_Mantra

So are you saying that even savestations replicate the insta-death glitch?

FullOfFail

I forget what happens exactly, but yeah, they're broken too.

Nikoshiba

I test it for about 2 minutes (I'm at work and playing with keyboard sucks... but walljumping is more easy than I figured out) : The Rockman X2 graphics are cool... It gave a cartoon visual that is fun.
I look forward a v2 to play it more "deeply"...

Good work by the way, FoF !

Quietus

I was also curious as to whether there are actually various routes, or just variations on the same route.  For example, you can go straight up from the ship at the start, but I went right.  I noticed a few rooms later on, and they also appeared to have more than one exit.

FullOfFail

Almost every area has two paths, they're usually completely different. Since the hack itself has a linear structure, I was able to have them meet that the same spots, then split again. You'd technically have to beat this hack twice to experience the full thing.

Quietus

No offence, but I'm not sure I'll get a second run. :heheh:

Now you've said what you said above, however, I may have to try GT again.  In case you're interested / curious, I found the places that required me to load my state the most times were:
The section where you 'run' away from the Torizo, and the section where you have to ride the orb enemies through the spike rooms.
Most of you know my thoughts on this hack, especially since I beta tested most of it, so I'm not going to do a big review or anything. I will say though that I like the hack, and as for said it doesn't take itself too seriously, the absurd difficulty is fun if you like that sort of thing, but if you don't thats fine too.
Quietus, be glad he needed that gt. In the original I had to fight him with just charge and he had an insane amount of health. It took me something like 45 minutes to fight him.
I agree about that orb riding spike room though, that really is a pain :/
Anyway congrats on getting this done fof!

Quietus

But that's all I've got!  Or did you mean you didn't have Grapple? :pwuh:

This?

Personally, I wished this was the default palette. It reminds me of the palettes I use.

Anyway, I got nowhere in the hack. That walljumping up the spike ceiling on the elevator thingy with 1 Energy is the most sinister thing I've ever seen.

FullOfFail

I don't entirely even understand what palette it's stealing, or why. Both my Varia and Gravity suits are altered, so I don't *think* it's from those. Looking at tMoS' screen-shot makes me not mind though, that's kind of evil and badass looking. I'm digging the yellow tigress-stripes on her inner-thighs. It's attractive :D

you don't have any missiles? That's odd.
Anyway what I meant was simply that GT had at least Ridely level health, possibly more, when I fought him. So constantly walljumping and hitting one charge shot at a time for 45 minutes was not fun.
Anywho the current version isn't too bad, just takes some time.

Also fixed up my earlier post, darned auto correct changing Nerfed to needed :/

Does having just the one count? :^_^:

Edit: Am I supposed to
die atop the elevator after the Space Jump section?
FullOfFail

Quietus, no, you shouldn't. I just tested and I didn't, do you know what caused it? If you mean the Lava burning sfx, that's just a error on my part, I tested it in Gravity, and not Varia. I'll see about fixing that in the future. You're making it really far, good job!

Quietus

No, I mean dying.  I'm perfectly fine at the bottom of the lift, and can move freely back and forth through the room transition.  However, when I step on the lift and go up, I don't even get to move off the lift - Samus just dies.

FullOfFail

Will you take a screen-shot of the exact position?

Quietus

Sure.  It happens the second the lift reaches the top.  I don't get to move or anything.  The lift hits the top, the screen goes black, and Samus dies.
