Is there going to be a beta version of 0.7.1?

begrimed

Yep. You're one of the people I'm gonna send it to whenever it's ready. No idea when.

Also, Samus is able to stand inside of any wall that's made of vertical half-slopes like that after a spark, huh? :( Good to know, thanks. Added to bug list.

LinkaMeister

I have found something again. I got stuck in this spot when I run from the left door to the right. It happened in a speedrun.

personitis

Happens in vanilla as well. Slope collision doesn't like fast speeds.

LinkaMeister

Out of curiosity. How far is the Beta version of 0.7.1 from being ready to get beta tested?

Quietus

I can agree with that.  'Tis rather lovely. :^_^:

LinkaMeister

Can you put GT code back in project base cause i really like to do some GT code runs in project base.

15491C
change D0 to 80
Disable Golden Torizo code completly

I haven't changed this value, and don't remember consciously turning the code off (totally could'a still happened). Probably disabled it another way by accident. At 15490A, there's a F0 that's normally D0. If that's not it, I dunno.

If all goes well, I'd like 0.7.1 to be out by New Year's, but I make no promises. I'll PM it to you on here when it's ready to test out. Feel free to stream. There's two or three more big room mergers I wanna do first, then the usual last-minute rush tweaks. Thanks for all of the kickass feedback and video posts, it won't go unrecognized. Same goes for others who devote time to this hack (whatup StuntCoyote).

Awesome news! can't wait to play the new version.  :^_^:

The Monster of Surrealton

FINALLY started playing 0.7, and it's really awesome :D

You should make a room behind bomb torizo that shows the animals ship.

Beautiful mod, Really nice on the eye and the controls are awesome. Metroid hacks have come a quare bit since i last looked into them maybe 8 years ago. Just finished this mod last night, found a glitch in crocimires room. Far righ above the energy tank. Speed boosting will reveal a hole in the wall which you can enter to a garbled room.

My one complaint is the sounds. Id prefer the original noise for the bomb and the music and sound effects when fighting against chorizo just seems off.

Oh and i love how fast doors open and gone is that annoying jingle!

I In ways i prefare it to the orignial. Project base is a success!

personitis

That "glitch" is an intended easter egg; a nod to the old rumored green chozo room.

Hi- bit of a noob question here- I've been trying to patch the Project Base with the Redesign, and that doesn't seem to work- it freesez on one hof the opening screens. Could anyone help me?

Quietus

The short answer is 'no'.  They are two completely separate hacks, and are not designed to work together.

Zhs2

Apparently, Axiel is supposed to fix the physics. You'll just have to wait for that.

This made my day, thank you. I'm surprised you got as far as one of the opening screens before it broke, though. A combination of those two hacks would be... strange. And probably very sultry.

Also, a small update on 0.7.1: it's quite close! I'm basically done on my end, but I'm holding out for a bit to see if I can't at least figure out what's causing a couple of nasty bugs that have been in Project Base since early versions. The worst one is for cartridges only, which causes the game to freeze at some point after you reset, start a new save file and collect charge beam again. I've been throwing ROMs at Linkameister to test out, but no success so far. Another is that shinesparking into Draygon has a low chance of softlocking you and forcing a reset.

For those who haven't seen, there will be more than one version of this release. Can you guess what kind of version it will be?

Quietus

I'm going to guess it'll have original palettes made beautiful. :^_^:

I think I like the one on the right more. The environment colors are more natural, and the background is a lot easier to make out.

That's because it's using the vanilla palette as opposed to project base's. By the looks of things, grime's releasing both project base 0.7.1 and 0.7.1 but with the vanilla palette

Quietus

I'm fairly certain it's not vanilla.  It looks too vibrant.

begrimed

lol, they're totally the vanilla palettes. Enough people asked or grumbled over the years about there not being a version with the original colors that I decided to do one now instead of waiting until it was completely done. That and I wanted to see how long it would take to do, which was only about two days or so to copy all of the vanilla colors back in and undo certain GFX edits.

All of the known big crashes are fixed! So expect this quite soon. I'd still like to get more people to run this version into the ground and make sure there's no new crashes happening. Kennon and Cardweaver found one in the room before Draygon, which hopefully is gone now (they experienced a freeze after using the missile station next to the boss eye door).

If anybody wants to beta this, message me or post in here and I'll give you the link.

Quietus

Ha, I've obviously spent so much time looking at Project Base that the original is a distant memory.
