How do you activate sideways super jump while freefalling? i.e. getting early screw attack in Redesign.

IIRC, press up to enter a pose where it looks like Samus is about to go up then press left/right and then jump.

You can only do it if you are spin jumping. If you are falling normally, it's impossible to initiate a shinespark, unless the hack in question has spinjump restarting.

As you come to the ledge you need to shine spark under. Do the first thing for a normal shine spark charge , Do a small spin jump then quickly change the spin jump direction so you are spinning diagonally down and to the left. Then press up. Samus will freeze in place about to shine spark. As soon as this happens hold left then tap jump. Samus should shine spark towards the ledge with screw attack. You then have to do some under lava morph ball bomb jumps to reach the floating platform.

Essentially, you need to do two things: Break the somersault, and then spark.  To break the somersault, press up or one of the aim up / down buttons, then hit forward and jump.

This isn't actually necessary.  Sparking at the correct height will enable you to charge your spark again before and after collecting the Screw Attack, and then you can spark straight back up to where you came from. :^_^:
