Hey man thats looking great now. And for uploading pictures I use tinypic which is quite good. Also about her being female....well thats what it sais on her profile lol. So anyway about the room, Numbers correspond to photo. (1) I'm not sure if you missed this or it was intentional but did you want this as a slope to? (2) The vegitation is identicle on all these platforms maybe try and mirror them horizontaly for a couple of them. (3) Looks like a tiling error. (4) This space looks very plain add some vegitation maybe?

Number 1 is indeed intentional, Number 2, I'm sure I have horribly missed that and will fix it, thx. Number 3, the tiling error is likely because of the gate I put there, so whether there is actually a tiling error or not you will not see it, but I might as will fix it if its there, 4, you sure do have a point, I was thinking I should add some vegetation or other mechanical-looking pieces. Well I'm oblivious to nearly everything that goes on around me, otherwise I probably would've saw it said Qactis was a SHE on her profile.

Personally, I use Drop-box for my screenshots and stuff.

Room-wise, it is FAR too straight. With a tile-set like Crateria, you need to have variation and lots of it. A good rule of thumb is no more than 3-5 straight tiles before you hit a slope. Check how Crateria looks in the original, or in other people's hacks. You'll see lots of variation in the rock.

I know far too much straight is a bad thing, but cmon, why do all of you want slopes so bad? Does it really make it look THAT much better? I think slopes do get boring after a while, non-stop slopes, but fine, I'll add more slopes, but what do you mean its way to straight? There's a few places that probably too straight, but is it really that much a problem?

Zero One

Yeah, it really does improve it that much. Where you see slopes as boring, everyone else sees straight as boring. Especially in a tileset specifically designed to emulate natural rock, I.E., jagged rocks in random places and a non-uniform terrain. Plus, I didn't say non-stop slopes. You CAN have straights in, but placed sparsely and only a few straight tiles at a time.

Smiley

If you don't feel like using slopes, then don't. Just don't expect people to really like your hack if you do that.

Mr K

Good luck working on your hack man. And btw its Quietus who is female qactis is a different user and is a guy lol. If you need any help or anything with smile or just general feedback feel free to contact me dude.

Well since this topic seems to have been derailed about who is female and who isn't, I thought I might bring it back.

Look at the style of the top right corner of the landing site. Now look at the rest of the room. Now look at that corner again. Now back at the rest. Sadly, it's not like that corner, but if you start using our advice, it could be. Look down, now back up. Where are you? You're on a Metroid hacking forum, reading a post by someone who's room yours could look like. Look at this; it's a plain, boring room. Now look again; the room has slopes. Anything is possible when your rooms look like mine. I'm on a pony.

I thought It looked different because of the variation of tiles; and the palette.

lol. good example though.

Qactis

The thing is sadi your "plain" room had enough slopes in it to look natural enough to me and thus not boring when played in a hack :p

You have a point, it's just the way that I tile that makes, even sloping look bad. But you also varied the tiles below the original ones on the second picture, and I'm pretty sure I don't have a customized tile set like that, although it would be nice.

Yuki

The landing site looks allright, but the chozo looks a little out of place, IMO. It doesnt have anything around it in the form of a bg, or really even much tile variation, so it sticks out like a sore thumb.

There are tilesets available to use on the Main Site. They're pretty good if you want a quick, new tileset.

yes, but I'm picky about about what I want, and I would like to make it all my own work.

sorry for a double post, but here's a video showing the previewing the suits, and I've finally found out whats wrong with that fu**ing room!

U-Mos

Pretty awesome. Hope for the best.

Qactis

Well your palette's are definitely improving, but still need work. Your varia and gravity suit palettes are too saturated.

Too saturated?

Quietus

You remember that your purple was
Quote from: Quietus on February 27, 2012, 08:36:45 AMsuper-mega-ultra-PURPLE!
Well, your suits are now super-mega-ultra-ORANGE and super-mega-ultra-BLUE respectively. :^_^:

Palettes usually need a better gradient, with colours that blend well.

Do you know how I could fix the messed up start screen? the Nintendo logo is messed up too. Also, there seems to be a problem where plm's are in rooms they shouldn't be, from other rooms, and that was what was wrong with that one room that would glitch every time I tried to go into it, and I also used the (what do you call it?) background layer where you can paste tiles after you press f1, and it won't come up, when I test it.

Recreating the landing site, didn't like how it looked before, in fact, that's the situation with the whole hack, and it wasn't going how I wanted, giving me difficulties, so I revamped it, landing site is nearly done....Should I include someone's name as part of credit in my hack seeing as I use their patches?

Charmander106

You should always credit others people work that you are using, it's just the right thing to do. If you don't then you should expect complaints. On topic though I hope that your re-vamped Landing Site will surpass your old one.
