You would have to edit the tile table to do what your later screen shot shows, IIRC.
Plus the yellow things just looks weird and ugly, I guess it could be some sort of ammo under the wep, but on the legs?
And the blue thing on the right shoulder looks bad.

I hope you know that:
1. This was originally drawn by my a long time ago.
2. It's ported to a crappy processor making it look not as good as it previously did.
3. You're brutally criticizing something you could never do yourself.

Underwater plants- Kinda wtf. it's definitely not algae or seaweed or something.
Also your place there looks pretty barren. I'd be getting 3 or 4 rooms done a day with only foreground tiles and generally randomly drop-little-decorations-around background. (or is that a BG pointer?)
