I think someone posted a room on Monday though.
The thread doesn't get updated exactly at midnight (especially since we wouldn't all agree on when that occurs). As long as you post your room before the update, you're good.

Yes, however people have already given their vote without having seen my room first so I'll wait till next time, no big deal.

More like someone forgot, and then they get on their computer the next day and they're like, "Oh yeah, RotW, fuck, shoulda fixed it up yesterday!"

*Ahem* I voted for Project's room because the palette was the prettiest. Never before have I seen such beautiful shades of purple used fluently to accentuate a tileset in a Metroid game

Amphitryon

Certainly Project's room has it's own dark atmosphere, it's similar to the way I subconsciously perceive that style of area in Metroid, LOL It is nicely done aswell, however I voted for MetroidMST as it combines everything well, graphics/rest items etc with a dark atmosphere aswell.

ProjectXVIII: I agree with some others.  Not enough space was used.  I felt more fun stuff could be added with keeping the same shape and architecture of the room.

MetroidMst: It gives me a creepy feeling.  I can tell what this room is about if I think about it.  I hope to see it in a hack soon.

DarkSamus: the bars look too neat, and it sets me off.  The palette also throws me off and is unusual.

Project, your room is pretty decent and is tiled well, and I like the bottom of the room. But aside from that, it's too bland for my taste. The lack of any other major color to contrast well with the purple makes it boring. Try to use some tiles that stand out and are detailed with some complimentary colors to break those long stretches of the same plain old tile and to help add some more sense of fine detail to the room.

MST, your color choice is good, but without the FX1 I know you have going on in there, the room looks too 'gritty,' and the BG and in-ground detail are severely lacking. I'm going to judge this based off the screenshot and not what I think it would look like with the FX1, because we don't know what FX1 the others may have that could change their in-game look, so it wouldn't be fair. This is also why I think we ought to allow videos for RotW submission alongside screenshots.

DarkSamus, your palette is weird. The odd green-tone within that brown is really funky; I'm not sure what to think of it. Your BG metal beams are also the same shade of the same color as the FG, which is a big no-no for me. And aside from that, the BG is pretty lacking as well. That desaturated blue looks good on those tiles, but NOT with the palette you're using with the rest of the room. It's an ugly clash the way you have it now. What I suggest is that you move those beams to a separate palette row from the FG, and make sure they're darker. Put a little more effort in to fill the empty black spaces of the BG (some rocky tiles would look great), and then take those blue metal tiles and make more sections and structures of them within the wall and poking out. Maybe connect a few of them. Also, try taking the FG color away from yellow a little bit and make it a little more green. I do like the look of that grass, though.

Ok, how to do it?? {spoiler}{img}{/img}{/spoiler}?? or...? ( where { = [   )

How to include all that in spoiler though like the rest of the users? I mean I did that, but I click on spoiler and it doesn't show anything. I used Imageshack to upload my image, what is the correct url type?

Charmander106

You need a direct link to the image like this link:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9398076/AVATAR.png

against img tags by using brackets like these: [ ]

Just like you would with spoiler tags...

Appears even better when seen as a whole :D Thanks, haha. So people also click the link up there aswell.

[spoiler][/spoiler]

Finally done.

Amphitryon

Maybe it isn't noticed but I managed finally to post it two posts below, so people tell me your opinion and stuff.

snarfblam

Amphitryon, you can't use that link. You need to right-click the file in explorer, and in the DropBox menu, click "Copy public link". Paste that link in here between the [img] tags.

Amphitryon

If you click on spoiler it shows it. Is that the one you mean I can't post?

Possibly the best Crateria room i've ever made.

Speaking from a neutral viewpoint, although my room according to it's dimensions is very nice aesthetically, yours technically deserves to win because you combined bigger dimensions with great design at the same time. On it's own yours and although Crateria isn't my favorite area is a masterpiece, and maybe it's one of the best rock formations possible for these simplistic areas. However mine is only part of a bigger area I have in my mind, the same exact dimensions to yours I believe, and it's only the lower right or left ( haven't decided yet) of that bigger area. Actually now it's the top left where I did it but it will be "transferred" in the future. With that in mind competition is somewhat unfair ( without this meaning that anyone can't post his work), as the rest of my area is going to be pretty whack aswell.

Amphitryon, that url (https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/contest.bmp?w=ba7bf65a) is only going to work for somebody who is logged onto the DropBox website as you, which means you'll see it fine, but nobody else will. You need to use the directions I gave to post an image from DropBox, or if you want to use ImageShack, use a direct link to the image. In FireFox, you can do it by clicking the image to view it full-scale, then right click on the full-scale image and select "Copy Image Location".

Amphitryon

Sorry, now it's fixed, it's several comments below, I tried before with Imageshack and it's different URL types but I didn't manage to do it, maybe I got the URL type wrong.

notes
This is a submission collaberation by Webber1900 and me.  i supplied a solid basis and kept monitoring the progress, while Webber1900 supplied the extra details in the room.  Not sure if it was exactly 50/50, maybe is was 60/40.  The bottom line is, we both worked hard on it.

The room came out much better than I expected.  After all, I was keeping it kind of simplistic like the original Ceres rooms.  But Webber1900 went a little beyond.  Anyway, to keep the idea simple, I was trying to make use of plenty of the scrolls.  I was making the pathway narrow to keep a right feeling.  It worked out pretty well.  Let's hope we don't get caught in the dead end during the escape.

And with special thanks to Sadiztyk for helping me fix stuff up so I could show the room properly.

THANKS TO YOU Sadiztyk!!  :awesome:

EDIT: yay, my 100th post!

My only (minor) gripe with the Ceres room is actually the bodies.  If they worked there, they must be super athletes to get around.

Your not the only one who thinks that, I always imagined in the vanilla SM how those people get all over the place in Ceres...

In all honesty, the whole SM is like that if you come and think of it. From minor issues, ranging from "who would have used grappling beam in the Crocomire room to place that energy tank(?) in the other side" to who would have passed whole areas with lava/beasts/whatever/climbed just to install there shit. If you apply logic to 2d game like that, and even 3rd, then why isn't ridley in the first room f*****g you upside down, even if you hypothetically threaten him in any way, since one move with his tail can throw you miles away etc.
