I always love seeing new projects being started, hopefully you finish it. Alright, let's get started on the post it's self, I love the format you used, it makes everything seem so neat and organize, props to you! Screenshots, the necessary element for any good hack announcement, I have two suggestions for you: 1. Tone down the yellow or possibly use a different color, it seems to clash way to much with the blue foreground and it makes it hard for me to look at for an extended amount of time. 2. Try varying the ground more, you seem to have quite a few flat surfaces, try throwing in some random slopes.

So far so good, can't wait to see how this develops.

Let's hope you put more work into your hack than your posts!

Normally I believe color choices should be up to the creator and think they get overly criticized around here, but I'm going to agree on the yellow.  That hurts my eyes.  Maybe something more orange or reddish/orange would look better.

Yea, i want the color of the sky is very bright, as on a sunny afternoon. This is cool for me and i hope u ll like too.

And about the Slopes, the screenshots are only for a preview, ill change a little more.

Not to be a smartass, but unless you were staring directly at the sun, the sky is usually blue on a sunny afternoon...

Hmmm maybe try to open the geemer (DCFF) in a tile editor and add a 1 pixel black outline around the edges of their spikes? The white spikes kinda blend in with the super-bright background

Lunaria

If he does that it would be a style clash to all the other enemies in the game, and he would have to add an outline on them too, which is a whole lot more work. :/

Plus if you want to add an outline I think you need a bigger tile table.... that it should be "that" hard to code, but still.

Regardless, I feel that maybe an orange or red or blue or purple, hell any color other than yellow would work better. I know that it is ultimately YOUR decision so you can tell me to go screw myself if you wanted to, but the yellow/blue clash just does not seem to work.

About the enemies, I like what your doing, the Geemers are awesome. (Purple is my favorite color, something I abused heavily in Stardust.)

Lunaria

To be honest it does not matter which color the sky uses... but the fact still stand that the current color set up is eye burning! Which I should not need to say is bad!

geeRSzz

Yay! Thanks u all!

I've been thinking ... How about a night sky?
Dark Blue + Very Dark Purple with Ugly Dark effect? (FX1)

Quietus

Don't doubt your choices due to other people's comments.  If you're happy with the yellow, then stick with it.  That's no excuse, however, for ignoring more general advice, such as the brightness or the blending of colours.

I like the enemy colours, although there seems to be a lot of grey / black.  It may just be my work monitor, which is not the best.

Buccaneer

You've put so far a lot of effort in your hack, geeRSzz, so carry on!

However, I'm also on the boat of disliking (just a bit) the brightness of the sky; I suggest toning it down, without replacing it with another hue. You can leave as it is, after all, this is your own work.
I'm eager to see what are you willing to do with Brinstar and Maridia, to say the least.

Enemies are good looking, at first glance. We'll have to see how do you blend them with the environment.

Heh, i know Quietus. But is true, the yellow/orange sky are to bright. And "Night effect" are cool.

Update - 09/12/10
New Sky Color (Night)
FOR ALL!

Tyjet66

I love the night time choice, that one is a definite winner in my book. My only gripe with the screenshots is the first one, the platform inside the wall right above the door looks odd just going right into the door (I hope you understand.) It's nothing major though.

Yes, I understand. But as I said, the rooms currently are modified slightly before being published.

Those angled supports look like ass. Here ya go (attachment)
palette modification required, but it looks like you're already all over that :D

Edit: this was done in yy-chr and I'm seeing that it is invisible in TLP. Hold on...

Edit Edit: second attachment will open in TLP
