METROID BLACKHAWK INDI

I have a sample video or a trailer if you want to call it of my 2nd hack..

Firstly, I think you'll all agree that the doors are much muuuuch better.

secondly, just like the original game and my first hack, the planet is silent to start off with, but enemies will come into it half way thru video...

I've ripped the gfx off Blackhawk, I hope you like it...

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!....Instead of watching video, you may now want to play the demo...

It certainly looks interesting enough. My only initial suggestion would be to change your text boxes round, so they say 'Press Up and hold A' instead of 'Up Press and hold A'.

Mettyk25jigsaw

That message box is not meant to suggest to press up, but instead, 'to go/get up' press and hold A...

Quietus

Oh, perhaps rewording it then, since that's how I read it? Of course, it could just be me. :heheh:

PonchGaming

Well, let's see the result in 2018.

I thought if you put the arrow up 'after' the press, there would be confusion, I double checked it to make sure it wasn't...Turns out that the arrow up is first and then the 'press & hold A' is after, but in case there is some confusion still, I will see if I can improve on it...However thanks for your thoughts quietus...However perhaps your video was shaky as it showed shaky the 2nd time 'I' looked at it here and therefore you thought the arrow was after press, just a thought... :^_^:

EDIT: Ok, improved the message box, shouldn't be confusing now, it reads---'arrow up' To go up, Hold A...

Steel Sparkle

Oh this looks pretty damn nice. And Custom music. Custom music is always a plus in my book. <3
I look forward to seeing progress on this.

A Dummy

Looking pretty cool, and yes those doors look way better. :P
I like the different atmosphere going on, neat idea making the Torizo the first enemy you see making him feel more threatening, all you need now is some custom enemy GFX to go with the different look of the areas and you might have something that's up there with Phazon Hack.

Okay so, I like the look of the tileset and I did enjoy the new music. However, while your doors are definitely improved, they are a huge clash. They need to be paletted better to match their surroundings, or reworked completely. Another suggestion is about your "air tubes" in there. The Door tiles again, they don't look good. As door tiles, they also don't exactly give off the appearance of wind-tubes or whatever. I would suggest drawing some new tiles to signify your transport tubes.

I think most people are going to agree with 'A dummy'(but maybe not a dummy ) about the doors, as the gfx as they were when I downloaded off a patch from somewhere did certainly need improving and definately have been improved and touched up and they are quite nice how they are now.
Also I personally admit that the doors in my first hack were awful and I myself wanted to change them, but it got to a certain point in game where palettes were limited and to me was a task I couldn't grasp.
But the truth is no matter what anybody does with something, you are always going to have somebody that doesn't like it.
As for the air tubes and especially the transport portal tube, they are definitely quite nice...
Also MST, I'm not being insulting with this next comment so please don't take me the wrong way...That is, it might be because you are so good at art and that type of stuff, that you are possibly forgetting that many other people are not as good as you, so to you it may not look as good because you can see areas where it can be perfected because of your artistic experience. But to my artistic experience and I think to many others, it does look nice...More of a compliment than anything else...

Also, to 'A dummy', I am going to at some stage to implement a lot of the enemies from BLACKHAWK into my hack including the very first enemy you see in BLACKHAWK in place of some pirates (if I can pull it off, should be able to), other enemies however are a lot easier...

Zero One

It looks like the trailer's using YouTube's awful auto-correction for unstable videos. I'd recommend turning that off if possible. Kinda ruins the trailer.

Yeah, wanted to give you guys a demo of hack for you to enjoy...

Some Doors are blocked off where they are not connected yet with solid blocks, so ignore those...Otherwise they are invalid door pointers, sometimes causing Samus not to load properly next time you load through door after touching invalid door scrolls, so I put these solid blocks to stop that. I think I did all the necessary ones...

Also, like my first hack, it will only play on ZSNES Emulator V1.51 by fusoya and SNES9x V1.39 or higher...

Unheadered of course... Download on first post...

Oh yes, it's had a slight name change, since I am going to be also ripping GFX From SN Version of Indiana Jones at some stage...

PS, There are a couple of things I need to touch up on, which I do know how to do them but I haven't got round to it yet... Like foreground/background of some message boxes needs altering and palettes on the morph ball...

PS2, Forgot....When you get to an "E" made from a group of 'X,s', it means end of current position of game....No more gameplay to enjoy...Sad...   (yet)

PonchGaming

So will this work on snes9x without flaws? Other than that, from the 10 minutes I've played, it's a really cool hack. Minus the no long beam thing.

Quietus

Providing you have the version above or higher, I'm guessing it should be fine.

elol

i cant play the demo

Mettyk25jigsaw

Elol, Try using Emulator ZSNESV1.51 By fusoya, that is the one I am using and tested patch on and it works well...To be honest, I have yet to test it on SNES9X, but I assumed it would work because it supports exlorom, I will now test for myself, but you shouldn't have that issue with Fusoya's Version already mentioned above...

There is a long beam item in game, it just isn't placed in hack as of yet, coming soon though...Once you get that, beams will travel to normal length...

I will now test a few versions of SNES9X to see what I come up with, if any issues, I will advertise that/those version/s as incompatable....

elol

thank you very much Mettyk25jigsaw  :^_^: :^_^: :^_^: :^_^:

Elol,

This is what I have at the moment in regards to Compatability for SNES9X:

Incompatable = 1.51
                        1.52
                        1.53

Compatable = 1.43 (there are a number of versions for 1.43, with 1 or 2 of them; the controls are almost impossible to configure...One I know works well with controls is 1.43V18
                           1.42
                            1.53 Fusoya
                            1.41

I can't test any more at the moment But I will continue later on this arvo, I am guessing 1.42 is compatable too, it may just be the latter versions, I hope, that are incompatable and the ones compatable higher or equal to 1.39 but below the latter...

PonchGaming

The second area maze is broken. The slopes have glitchy properties most of the time and I managed to glitch out the maze and get stuck. Hopefully you fix the slopes.  :nowai:

Digital_Mantra

Most alien tilesets I've ever seen, custom music.. yup this is top shelf. Very excited to play more.

Mettyk25jigsaw

To PonchGaming....Yeah That was a difficult room, I'll look at it and see where you may have fallen through the maze, although though getting stuck in the tunnels all the time, it's not really an issue, I am assuming you are talking about where you travel through the bended tunnels, just let go of right or left (which ever direction you are travelling and press the same direction again, you should get through the 2nd time...Also, I believe it only happens going down and not up....
Come to think of it, I may know another thing you may be talking about....That is at a few spots when you have to mid-air morph, and your head gets bumped and you can't reach the tunnel above, well you can actually do it successfully and I will put a message box up there someday to explain how to do it...All you do is go into morph mode quicker and you will succeed. It is like that for a good reason as I have to use morph lock to provide me a way to do a certain requirement I want in the hack. The morph lock however while standing up and jumping upwards onto a morph lock tile will act like a solid block, so you have to get into morph mode before touching that tile...
That room is however going to have the occasional testing, since the complexity of designing a room like that is high, so hopefully when I release the whole thing; the maze room will be perfect...
Thankyou for your input...Will now find that spot you fell through...

To Digital Mantra, Thankyou for your encouraging words, it's words like that I need to inspire me to complete it...  :yay:

PonchGaming

Well when I meant glitch out, I meant as in unmorph in a place I'm not supposed to (which is anything that isn't a straight line), then some how made me glitch through and I ended up in a box. I have also found a solution to playing this on snes9x. The same person who made zsnes fusoya also made a snes9x fusoya. It restores the exlorom thing up to 64bit. http://fusoya.eludevisibility.org/emulator/index.html
Now this works, and it doesn't seem to have any issues.

Mettyk25jigsaw

Ok, So you are saying that I should not let anyone unmorph in those bended tunnels? That is a good idea, I shall do just that, thanks for the idea... :^_^:
Also Thanks about the emulator SNES9X option, I shall look for that over google and add it to the compatibility list...

I was about to start on looking for more compatible emulators in a minute anyway...

elol

i  stuck in first maze
